“Excellent selection of local cheeses, great prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

La Bodega Cheese Shop specializes in local cheeses, and Sonoma is known for it's great cheese. The price for a tasting about $15 for ten cheeses but the tasting fee is waived if you buy cheese, and you probably will. They will tailor your cheeses to your taste (strong/mild, hard/soft). The courtyard is very pleasant to sit in but there are only a couple of tables so go before lunch or mid-afternoon. The shop is attached the Sonoma Wine Shop - ask to do a wine tasting with your cheese. The Wine Shop specializes in small, local wineries and serves some excellent wines in the $20-$30/bottle range. The wine tasting fee is also waived if you buy wine.

“Quirky little place, but good food and we were well treated”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2012

This seems to be more of a wine/cheese tasting place than a restaurant, but given that it had a menu outside, it suggested more. We found a tiny kitchen area at the back of an arcade, with a single table only, not realising that there was a larger part of the restaurant across the courtyard. Undeterred the staff were happy to seat us there and talked over the vegan options with my partner, before agreeing on a vegan-ised option for one of the dishes. I ate a decent plate of ten local cheeses, where as she had some crispy-topped artichokes with a sundried tomato sauce - both of us certainly enjoyed our meals.

Not bad value either, as we both ate for around $25 + tax. Certainly worth a visit for a simple lunch.
