“Luxury hotel in Sonoma”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Our Backroads cycling group spent one night in this fantastic landmark in the town of Sonoma. Several enjoyed a spa treatment which is usually a feature of Fairmont hotels. The rooms are large and well appointed, another trademark of the Fairmont brand.

I originally reserved my stay on travelzoo. I then found the room over $200/night cheaper on the hotel website. I called travelzoo and asked them to adjust the price. They sent me to GetARoom as they are "only a facilitator" for travel deals. GetARoom Is The WORST. They told me they would not do anything to help me.
I called the Fairmont directly and they fixed it in 2 seconds. They were AMAZING!!!! She then transferred me to the concierge who arranged a car, reservations to several wineries and treated us like we were the most special couple on the earth.

We spent three nights over Memorial Weekend 2015. Weather is chilly, glad I packed sweaters and jackets. Hotel is historic so don't expect polish and fancy. There are several memorable aspects of this hotel:
1) The Suite rooms are worth it. Coolest jacuzzi tub I've ever seen floating in the middle of the room so you can watch tv, read, etc. I'm 5'9 and fit perfectly - it has all the right curves for a comfortable fit. Save your money at the spa and book the suite! It comes with its own rose salts, just heavenly.
2) 39 North is cute bar - very nice waitstaff. Menu and drink options are decent. Normal fare.
3) Booked to capacity - the hotel was jam packed and you could tell. Huge wedding over the weekend. Always someone in the lobby or bar. It didn't bother me - but don't expect private over a holiday weekend.
4) Concierge - Booked all of our tours through them. Excellent choices. Pricey, but good.
5) Breakfast - very nice off-site location from hotel. Lemon cottage cheese pancakes were pretty good.
6) Beds - amazing beds. Tops Westin Heavenly Beds and that's saying something.
7) Self park - save your money and don't bother with valet. Parking lot is close.
8) Donut Shop and a few cafes in walking distance. You could walk 30 min into town, about 2 miles. Taxis are also available.

We travel and stay at very high end hotels so I'm comparing this to Hyatts, Four Seasons, and other cool boutique hotels. Mission Inn is laid back wine country so you won't get "city-type" speediness or service. You will get super friendly, accommodating, and knowledgable though. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Try to stay in main lodge - otherwise your walking pretty far and taking elevators to get to lobby.

I'm just getting around to writing this review for February...but everything still holds true. We needed a weekend getaway and Sonoma was only 1 1/2 hours away for us. We also needed a pet friendly place. We kicked off relaxing after checking in with a glass of wine in the lobby, dog on a leash and everyone was happy. The beds and the room were great and you can't beat the location with downtown Sonoma 10 minutes away and wineries galore all around you. Highly recommended!

We stayed for 6 days at the Fairmont. The front desk was friendly and they offered us a glass of bubbly as our room was not ready when we arrived at 4pm. It took about 30 minutes, but, we went out to the pool and sat poolside. Lots of loungers, umbrellas and fresh towels so a very enjoyable area. We swam the next day and the pool is warm and said to be water from the hot springs. Service on the pool deck is great, but, the bar closes at 1:30 so it's difficult to get a drink in the middle of the afternoon anywhere on the property. The front desk staff recommended to call room service or ask the concierge. Seemed strange for such a big hotel. The firepit was also a nice touch and we enjoyed our cigars and scotch with a bunch of friends that came down for a peer group retreat. Unfortunately, the gas to the firepit is turned off at 10pm. It would have been nice to have the fire a little longer, but, even the Manager said he was unable to turn it back on. The food and service was generally quite good otherwise. The main restaurant was fantastic. Service, food and wine knowledge were all top shelf. Highly recommend dining there. They have wifi throughout the resort, but, you have to pay for it. When we had our meeting we asked if we could have wifi to the room, but, the Fairmont staff person told us that it would be an additional $300. We said that we thought this was unfair, but, the staff member said "Everyone is entitled to their opinion" I think they need some training.

If it were not for the deliciousness of the restaurant, Sante, this experience would have been a complete flop. The entire property is in need of upgrades. From the hotel name at the entrance missing the "F" for Fairmont, to the dirty and worn out corridor carpet, to the missing grout around tiles in guest rooms, not to mention the dirty looking fountain at the entrance, this entire property appears old and worn out. It was not at all worth the $700+ for a rack room, for one night. I was appalled at the dirty linen carts left in the hallways, the dirty trays at 4:00pm, and common furniture in the rooms. While Travel & Leisure has this location's spa listed as one of the top 25, I could not for the life of me understand why. If the entire property does not scream One of A Kind Experience, then what difference does having a top spa make? None.

beautiful historical inn sits on mineral springs I stayed in the mission suite which was so beautiful with the best jacuzzi tub. it had french doors onto my own private patio. there was a fireplace but you had to lite it yourself. not the kind you touch a switch with. I don't know how to light that so I didn't try it . it had wonderful coffee machine in your room stocked with snacks and drinks. and a complimentary bottle of wine. I would love to come back and stay here again and in that room. the town of sonoma is a short drive so you cannot walk to it. I had a wonderful massage. quite pricey. it comes with the mineral springs steam, sauna ritual which is very healing. also three pools that are mineral springs fed. the best room service ever. again pricey so was the room. but if you want the best you have to pay the price. The grounds are impeccable . everyone is super nice.

Room Tip: stay in mission suite
