“classic country club - comfortable room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

Located within 10 minutes DRIVING distance from Sonoma Square.

Kinda like a country-club in the 90's, very laid back and classic.

Room was clean and relatively new. Comfortable bed with ceiling fan.
Free - wine-tasting at the lobby in the evening.
Not free - Wifi

We booked the hotel solely for resting after the whole day winery tour at Sonoma.
Well-rested in the hotel.

We recently extended a trip to Napa with a stay at the Fairmont. Older style rooms but great service, great restaurant and best of all they booked golf for me at Sonoma Country Club which was truly outstanding as a course and the facilities . We will definitely be going back

We have stayed at this property numerous times to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. My brother was married here too. But this is the last time we will go to the Sonoma Mission Inn if we have a choice. It was just super expensive and not special. This was for our 20th wedding anniversary. We paid almost $700 a night and felt a little like second-class guests. Upon check in, we were offered an upgrade at no charge, which turned out to be a room right on the main road. Literally cars honking, noisy and unpleasant. We returned to the desk and were given another room, still in the front buildings but ok. Heading into town for dinner, we inquired about a shuttle and were told there was NONE so we took a cab. No big deal, except a woman who worked at the restaurant called the hotel and arranged for the shuttle to pick us up! Huh? I thought you said there wasn't a shuttle. Pool service was really lackluster; breakfast nothing special.

Room Tip: Rooms behind the pool are probably quietest. Avoid the building across from the spa.

We stayed for three nights at the fairmont sonoma, because we were going to a wedding, our room was small but nice ( for the price we paid I thought that we were getting a suite with a terrace) but it seems that they can charge whatever they want because they are always full.
The service was excelent everywhere at the hotel, the concierge, the front office, the valet the waitress etc.
The coffee machine is terrible but the bed is very confortable, the pressure in the shower is very weak.
I made an appointment to have my hair done two monts before, but many people couldn't have their hair done because they didn't hire more stylists, also the SPA was completely full and you couldn't have a massage and it is a pity because the name of the hotel is mission inn and SPA!
One day we were at the pool and they asked us to move from the shade to the sunny side Because they were having an event at 6.00 PM and they had to arrange the tables.
Definitely bad management!!!

Lobby and hallways have an objectionable smell. The service was excellent. the property is well maintained. The staff was very friendly. The food was excellent in both restaurants. The valet service provides bottle water and is very helpful.

This is an attractive hotel with very beautiful grounds and a nice overall appearance. Our room was quite small, with a small bathroom, inadequate counter space in the bathroom, very weak water pressure in the shower, and i paid over $600/night. This is an unacceptable price/value ratio.

Spent two nights at this hotel. First night was in a king fireplace room that looked directly over the main street with buses idling outside our window. Could not open any of the blinds as they looked directly on the street or driveway. The AC was so loud that we finally had to turn it off as it was impossible to get any sleep from the loud noises coming out of it all night long. The bathroom was outdated and furniture was old. Hard to believe this room was over 750 per night. We were able to move to a one bedroom fireplace suite the second night. This room was much nicer with balcony and separate living room. The furniture again was kind of old but at least this room was peaceful and quite. The bedding and mattress was nice in each room but the king fireplace room was located in a terrible part of the property so I would avoid these rooms. The suites are more in the interior of the hotel complex and much more peaceful. The included breakfast was nice. The location of the hotel is not ideal but a short drive to town. The spa was nice not but not exceptional. The whirlpool and saunas were coed so bring a swimsuit. Overall a nice property if you get the correct room location but much more expensive than the rooms warrant.

Room Tip: Avoid the king fireplace rooms.
