“nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We stayed there for 5 nights in August and thought the hotel had nice rooms and the grounds were very pretty. The staff at this hotel was great while we were there. Amy at the front desk was so helpful and always smiling. The cleaning staff at this hotel did a great job and they were also very pleasant. We met a lot of nice people at the pools and in the front by the fire pit. We would definitely recommend this hotel in the sonoma area.

I've had a chance to stay here twice and probably appreciated it even more the second time. The quality of the property and service is wonderful. Access to a lovely pool as well as a very qualified set of spa services was also a treat.

We decided to come to Sonoma for a weekend away, and the Fairmont Sonoma seemed like a good central place to stay. Upon arriving, the property is very pretty, and we were greeted with a glass of champagne. Although the property is not in downtown, they offer a free shuttle into town (if you can get it, usually booked).

Our room was where the problems were. We were on the 3rd floor which was great so that we did not have anyone on top of us making noise. However, the walls were very thin and the AC unit kicked on extremely loud (like diesel engine loud) every 10 minutes making it impossible to sleep...which meant what should have been a relaxing stay was more tiring than anything else. When we went to the front desk to check out the next morning, we let them know of the issues but you could tell the front desk woman, Samantha, was not interested at all. So we paid our $600 for the night and went our separate ways. For that amount of money, I would have expected a better accommodations and a more attentive ear after the stay. We will likely not return, and just book an AirBnb next time, or head over to Healdsburg and stay at Le Mars.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for four nights. I will say that the property is beautiful, the rooms are nice but not anything special. The food is good but not wonderful. This is probably one of the most expensive hotels I have ever stayed but not the best by far. We had problems with the air conditioner in our room but this was resolved. The property is very manicured, the pool area is beautiful but over all I would not stay there again for what they charge per night.
The best part I would say,
the bed and pillows were very comfortable and the rooms were very clean.

Dear dnorris65, Thank you for your post. We are thrilled that you found the resort so beautiful and comfortable, but disappointed that you did not experience better value and for the challenges with the air conditioning. We do have a variety of room and suites, and we may be able to offer something different that better suits your expectations. We do hope you will give us another opportunity to welcome you to our resort in the future. Kind regards, Guest Service Manager

This hotel is extremely clean and nicely decorated but it doesn't live up to Fairmont standards. The "suite" has a door in front of the bed but this is a very small room. When I called the front desk they said I was already upgraded and I could not get a larger room. Ok. Still a pretty room. Then the tv would not receive Fox News! Hmmm. The coffee they use is quite unsatisying- they need to upgrade from folgers to make it more special. We can get folgers from home, right? Then the rose hip shampoo is tiny and unlathering- and how many men do you know who want their hair to smell like roses? Also they give you very small soap samples so bring your own soap if you stay here. A few other comments: front desk personnel are rather empty headed. They smile and say how was your stay and they call your room to say how is everything but they really don't care and won't do a thing to recover your disappointments- it's all a sham of politeness that seems patronizing in its disingenuity. So we r leaving today a day earlier than planned and going to the nearby Sheridan.

We stayed at the hotel for four nights. We had an excellent stay. The spa was the best part of the hotel and I would suggest spending a day or two there if you have the time. Food was excellent at the restaurants and the service was also very good. I would agree that this hotel is a little ways away from the downtown city Square but it is only about a 10 minute drive. I would agree that the rooms are a little bit small, however, this was an old mission so I'm sure this was how it was built. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a relaxing time in Sonoma. I would definitely come here again for a relaxing vacation.
