Above average, but doesn't quite make the mark for leaving an indelible impression as a luxury destination. The property is unique and casually elegant, but the hallways are more expansive than the rooms and it's a bit on the dark, old-looking side. If your preference is modern and energetic appearance, this isn't your destination. If it's a place that would appeal to your parents or grandparents, this fits the stereotype. The service is very good, the furnishings excellent. It is away from the Sonoma downtown and plaza, where the restaurants and shops are, but there is a shuttle provided. Many nice wineries, state parks, and other outdoor activities are nearby. I enjoyed my stay, but I don't think I'll return, given numerous other places to stay in the Northern California Wine Country.

Beautiful hotel! The staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely get a spa treatment and take advantage of the bathing ritual. We had a wonderful dinner at Glen Ellen Inn! Rooms can be pricey during peak season, but well worth the experience.

I stayed there with my wife for several days. The place is extremely comfortable, the rooms are very large and nicely furnished.

They offer great massage packages, facials, etc.

Overall -- very comfortable high-class place. Great for weekend retreat with your significant other.

It is a bit expensive, but worth the money.

I am late posting this review but I really recommend this property.

We booked a Jr Suite for a 2 night stay December 2006. Our 2nd Story Jr. Suite opened to a nice private patio. Large bathtub with seperate shower, dual sinks. Lovely atmosphere and it wan not too cold even though we were there late in the season. We used our wood burning fireplace and felt the room ideal for a romantic getaway. We were there with a wedding party and recommend the yoga room, pool and spa. We did not eat on the site. There is a great smoked BBQ place right down the road.

“Pretty - but with a bad attitude”

We stayed at the Mission in for a recent wedding.
I was very happy with the check-in. We did not recieve the complimentary bottle of wine - but were graciously credited for it with a couple of snack items. The valet runners were the best staff in the place. The room was very small, but clean. The beds were comfortable and the housekeeping polite. That's about all of the good things.

We did encounter some unpleasant issues.

With two small children, we were given a 2nd floor room adjacent to the wedding party tent. Although we booked a babysitter, the noise level of the party made in impossible for anyone to sleep in this room.

I was shocked at how bad the catering service was. (Disclaimer- my background is in catering management) The food, although delicious, was served very late (well after the dance band started). I was frequently hip-checked by servers even though my chair was tucked as far into the table as I could go. The coffee self-service bar was out of cups well before closing time. The servers started clearing everything from the tables, including candles, centerpieces, and tablecloths at least 45 minutes before the end of the party. Very odd to be in such a fancy place and have to sit at bare splintery banquet tables!

My two tries at communicating with management were the biggest issues. I was very dissapointed in the "too bad for you" attitude. Overall the management came accross as pompus and uncaring.

I would warn other couples to stay far away from this place for a wedding party
