“Surprisingly beautiful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

My Husband, 4 year old daughter and myself escaped to the Lodge at Sonoma for 3 nights and came back in love with the property. We had a cottage surrounded by beautiful flowers and perfect Sonoma weather. In complete honesty, we didn't expect it to be as wonderful as it was. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed but not stuffy, and the property is beautiful. Our daughter swam freely in the pool amongst a few other children but the entire energy was relaxed, and in no way "a crazy kid pool". There was a server at the pool and many open cabanas to relax in. If you are traveling with children, the entertaining "Train Town" is across the street. This place is a true gem in Sonoma.

A great place, with fantastic service, place to stay in Sonoma. The spa is incredible, the on property restaurant and bar have excellent wine selections, along with an extremely friendly staff. Spend a little extra and stay in the cottages, well worth it.

Room Tip: Stay in the cottages vs. rooms, you will not regret it.

Stayed for one quick night as we toured through Sonoma and Napa. Check-in was fast and friendly! Our cottage was spacious and clean. We didn't swim but loved relaxing on the poolside cabanas and couches with fire pits. Free wine tasting and shuttle downtown were a perfect addition and made that annoying resort fee a little more understandable. Would definitely stay here again. :)

My buddy and I arranged for a relaxing spa and wine tasting weekend. Neither of us had stayed at The Lodge, though we've been to Napa a number of times. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Andrew and he identified me as a Silver Elite (I forgot that I was) and he expedited my checkin process immediately.

We had to merge our two reservations and The Lodge was sold out for the whole weekend. Andrew and Devin worked tirelessly to accommodate our requests, of which we were VERY pleased with the results.

We spent a day at the Spa and that too was a great experience. Spas of this caliber (and price) tend to be snobby. That was not the case at all. Everyone was warm and inviting. We left a couple of times to grab food from the bar and bring it back our cabana with no problems at all.

The restaurant seemed pretentious, so we decided to chill in the bar and Andrew took our order for pizza from the restaurant and had it delivered to us. What great service!

You have to get the Bloody Mary while you are there. SO good.

I will definitely return!

Room Tip: If you can't get a cottage, request a room on the second floor, overlooking the pool. Also, req...

Total disappointment! Came here for a romantic weekend getaway, but it failed to impress on most all accounts. The cottage rooms were fine, but like other reviewers said, they were on par with rooms in a Best Western (in fact I've stayed in a better Best Western for half the price). The layout and grounds feel like a suburban gated community with prefab. cottages - generic and charmless. The icy pool was the biggest disappointment. It was mid-70s outside when we visited Sonoma, and quite hot under the sun. There were a lot of people lounging around the pool, but anytime anyone tried to go in they shrieked in horror at the ice-cold water and immediately got out (there were some noisy kids playing in the pool the first day - their bodies adjust better I guess). My husband and I complained, as they had advertised a heated pool, and the staff said they would turn up the temp., but it was still freezing the next day and unusable. We swim a lot for exercise, and this was much, much colder than a standard Olympic heated pool. They tack on a daily resort fee, which seems ridiculous as you can't even make use of the pool. Luckily I used reward points and didn't pay $2-300/night for this mediocre spot.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback regarding your recent stay. I am sorry for the disappointment that you experienced with our hotel. Sonoma is a great place for a romantic getaway, and I am sorry we did not help make that expereince better. We are currently working on finalizing a rooms renovation for the hotel which will push the hotel to the next level overall. We did also identify the issue with the pool, a heater was not working properly. That issue has been resolved and the pool is back running between 80-82 degrees. Please know we truly appreciate your feedback and want to welcome you back when you have the opportunity to visit Sonoma again. Please reach out to me directly when you get a chance so I can make sure your next stay with us is fantastic.

This is a lovely hotel with cottage rooms in Sonoma. Great location close to everything you want to see.

Our cottage was clean and comfortable with a gas fireplace. The setting is very relaxing. The pool area has plenty of comfy seating and chaise lounges. The hot tub jets aren't great but we still enjoyed our time spent soaking.

Wish they had free coffee in the lobby but they do have a nice cafe where you can get your large latte fix.

We booked spa appointments for our last day right at check out time. The spa was wonderful!
The Raindance spa has a lovely outdoor area with several hot tub pools along with two heated cooler pools. Very comfortable cabanas and seating. You can order food, wine, champagne right to your cabana or chaise lounge. Eucalyptus steam room was very refreshing.

I can't say enough about the staff - very sweet and accomodating.

We would definitely come back to this property.

We stayed here recently in a Cottage. Room was nice and clean, bed was very comfortable. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant both days and it was very good with excellent service. Didn't use the pool or gym. Highlights were the hotel's own nightly wine tasting - free tasting and bigger pours than any other tasting we went to! The hotel shuttle took us to town and picked us up as needed which was very helpful.

Our one complaint is the "resort fee" which covers a couple bottles of water in the room, a small bottle of wine upon arrival, Wi-Fii, gym, etc. We stayed here using some Worldwide Premier Rewards so our room was free but we still had to pay the resort fee - which is fine. I looked at the price our room would have been and it was several hundred dollars per night. For that kind of money, one would expect free wi-fi, gym, etc. Why not just do away with the resort fee and make the room $320 a night instead of $300? I'm not a cheap person but this kind of thing just drives me nuts.
