nice place. wasn't real crowded. rooms are clean and well appointed. pool is small. gym is really small. grounds are lovely. not really walking distance to downtown sonoma. at 399, about right for the area. on site restaurant is ok. the downtown square is great for walking and browsing.

I travel A LOT mostly for business, but had not heard of MacArthur Place until it was recommended by a friend who stayed there for a "girlfriends" weekend. My husband and I went for my birthday and I loved the hotel! The staff is one of the friendliest I have seen - very friendly and sincere but not formal or stuffy and the gardens are beatiful with great smells around every corner. I found a bench in the middle of the garden and read for hours. We stayed in one of the new cabana suites and it was so nice we didn't want to leave the room. We ordered room service for dinner and enjoyed it in our private yard with the fountain running. The outdoor shower is in a little tented cabana and was amazing with a giant showerhead that comes down like rain. The tub in the suite is huge (big enough for two) and has relaxing jets and a big wonderful smelling bath "tea bag" for you to steep for your bath. The suite was a nice size and the furnishings were all new and in tans and beiges which I like. It had a fireplace, large flat TV and DVD player (movies are free in the Library). They have a really nice breakfast buffet included with a nice variety including hard boiled eggs which I appreciated being on a low carb diet. I had the best facial I have ever had by Kathy at the spa while my husband relaxed by the pool. I would definately recommend this hotel to someone looking for a relaxing getaway - wine country or not.

I selected this place because my friend, who is an event planner, highly recommended it. It did not disapoint. The inn is situated on 5 acres right near the middle of town. The grounds are meticulously kept with glorious flowers and whimsical modern art. It's very relaxing. The pool and spa are more modest, but very nice and relaxing and the flowers are just gorgeous. My massage was excellent.

The room was very lovely, clean, large and quiet at night (even though it was right by the road). You can walk to town (if you want) or it's quick drive

There is a free wine tasting every night and an excellent continental breakfast every monring. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I also highly recommend their website for recommendations for things to do. We did a boutique wine tour and the hot air balloon ride suggested on their site and it was fabulous. The nicest part was if you just wanted to sit around and watch birds, read and smell flowers, you can and it's lovely.

We loved this place from the minute we set foot on the resort. The desk staff was very nice and helpful. When we got to the room our first response was "Wow". It was very large and the bathroom, could have been a room all its own. The bed was cozy and the linens were fabulous. We had dinner at Saddles and the meal was excellent and the service, very good. They had a complimentary continental breakfast or you could pay for a meal. The continental breakfast included breads (which you could toast), pastry, fruit, yougurt and hard boiled eggs. I'm not usually thrilled with a continental breakfast, but you could make several of the items hot, and that's fine with me. The grounds were beautiful with lots to do on the facility. We would defininately stay here again.
