“Great place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

Stayed at MacArthur Place for 4 nights for wine country. The grounds are beautiful, great pool, excellent rooms, spa area. Staff is very attentive. Nice wine and cheese reception at 5-6 each night. They are connected with Saddles restaurant, right next door, where a very nice continental breakast is served each morning. They also have a happy hour 4:30 to 6 each night with half price appetizers and special alcohol prices. Very helpful with printing up boarding passes and has a free computer for those of us that don't have I Pads, etc.

Room Tip: Not sure why, but we had 5 couples and they chose to put us all in 5 diffferent buildings, all on th...

For our 20th anniversary, we stayed in one of the suites with a private garden and it was everything we could have hoped for. All the amenities, very quiet and private. Loved the nightly free wine tastings on sight. We also enjoyed spa treatments, which were very nice. As much as we liked it, we will likely reserve MacArthur Place for special occasions because of the high price.

One of the nicest hotels I’ve ever stayed in – just the right mix of upscale elegance and a casual, relaxed atmosphere. Our room was tastefully decorated, with all we needed – nice and light and airy due to the number of windows, with a good comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom.

The gardens are beautiful, and a great place to wander around admiring the many sculptures, or just to sit and relax. The pool area is small but nice. Service at the hotel was attentive but not intrusive, and whatever we needed was done quickly and efficiently. Parking was easy.

Breakfast as included in the rate has limited choices, but was fine for what we needed. We ate at the hotel’s steakhouse Saddles one night – I found my pot roast excellent, my husband didn’t enjoy his steak so much, but overall we found the restaurant good.

Sonoma Town Centre is a short but easy walk away, and there are many restaurants and amenities nearby.

We stayed two nights and wished we could have stayed for longer. Highly recommended, and if we’re ever lucky enough to return to the area we wouldn’t hesitate to stay at MacArthur Place again.

We spent 3 nights at this quaint inn. The concierge staff was extremely helpful (shout out to Kevin) and suggested great places to eat (girl and fig) and wine taste. They arranged a wine tasting tour with Platypus tour group which was terrific-but four wineries in one day was two too many!
On site wine tastings every night in the cozy library where a friendly staff person gave us more suggestions and tips on how to enjoy our stay. The facilities are top notch and private. Quaint outdoor chess set like Alice in Wonderland, hot tub, pool and work out facilities very clean and quiet. Saddles restaurant on location was delicious steak place. I would definitely stay here again- friendly, quiet and fabulous.

We spent Memorial Weekend at the MacArthur Place. We stayed in a Standard downstairs king room. The room was spacious and clean! The rooms look just like the pictures. One of the employees also let us view the Garden Spa Suite... it was amazing, if you have the money to splurge. The rooms we felt were a bit pricey but very nice. Beds and pillows were satisfactory and bathroom was a fine size. TV and DVD players was nice, and love that they have a Keurig and nice area with a mini fridge (filled with honor bar) we just took their stuff out so we could use fridge for our leftovers and waters. The honor bar is a pricey. Nice table and chairs for inn room dinning. Room service was very good and so was Saddles reasturant. Grounds and Gardens are beautiful. The pool is nice and with poolside sevice. Closes a bit early at 10pm.
Tips.... get an upper floor or room with no one above you. This would be more quiet. Ask to be in the interior of property. We were right by pool and was nice just wished they had uppstairs room.
The breakfast was very basic nothing special. Muffins and fruit continental type and wine in the evening was also very basic with crackers, cheese, and fruit. Nice add on since rooms are a little overpriced.
I would stay again. Staff was great!

Room Tip: Upper floor away from street interior of property or room with no one above you.

My boyfriend and I had a delightful stay at the the MacArthur Place Inn and Spa. We were so happy to escape from a dingy and cramped corporate hotel in San Francisco to the charm and spacious warmth of MP. Our room was upgraded when we arrived and and we could not have have been happier. Breakfast was included which was a nice addition as well. Our room was surrounded by blooming flowers and bushes---it was like a magical cottage.

Friendly staff, great room, amazing rain shower, lovely bath products, in the heart of Sonoma, a Chief Feline Officer (AJ) who will greet you when you arrive. We had some lovely massages at the spa and relaxed by the lovely pool. Honeysuckle was blooming everywhere and the grounds are glorious.
We loved it and hoped to stay there again.
