“Great location, service and rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

Was really pleased with our stay here. We booked a good deal on hotwire so we had a more basic room but it was a good size. No tub, but a shower. The grounds were really nice, as are the common areas. Continental breakfast which is included was perfectly fine, and as a nice bonus they have wine tastings every evening from 5-6pm. Great DVD selection for borrowing for your room, cable tv, and wireless. Overall, really enjoyed our stay and it was a bargain.

Location was pretty good - it was just a few minutes walk to the town center, so we could go out to some great restaurants and bars without worrying about driving. It also is not far from Napa and Sonoma area wineries, so we were able to drive around for great day trips.

Highly recommend it! Hope to stay there again.

On a side note - the only negative thing was I had an eyebrow wax at the spa and it was terrible. Never had such an amateurish experience - and especially wasn't expecting it at such an expensive and high-end place. I didn't get any other of their spa services though, which I'm sure are just fine.

I've stayed here twice. Once in a gorgeous room with large soaking tub and sitting area, and once in a typical hotel-style room with just shower. Talk about night and day! Well, maybe night and afternoon. The grounds are lovely for both. And, the lower-end room was still comfortable and spacious with a good size bathroom and very comfortable bed, but more on the charming side rather than luxury. The service is excellent, kitty adorable, and facilities top-notch. Just don't expect to be wow'd by your room if you don't pay for the nicer ones.

This hotel is central to the town, a little walk to the square and short drive to many wineries. I'd be very happy to stay here again, if I see a deal on a large room.

Room Tip: Ask for full description of your specific room BEFORE you arrive, or you may not get what you want...

We stayed here in November to celebrate a special occasion. The weather was rainy, and we didn't do any wineries, but we nonetheless had a great time thanks in large part to the hospitality of the staff and the beautiful accomodations. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, and our room was spacious and well appointed. The bed was particularly comfortable and cozy and we found it hard to leave the room. When we did, we found it nice to walk around the grounds and enjoy the sculptures in the garden and we enjoyed the hot tub, cookies and tea in the spa (complimentary) and especially the sauna. The pool also is heated and would have been nice to use had it not been raining.

There is a complimentary Manager's wine and cheese reception each evening, although this was really more of a wine tasting scene. On the plus side, it was hosted by a local winery, and the quality of the wine was outstanding. On the minus side, this was clearly a tasting, so pours were small, and it was clear we weren't supposed to come back for more. We enjoyed it, but I think it should be labeled as a wine tasting, not as a wine reception.

The resort is located close to the action in the Sonoma town square (~.5 mile walk) but it feels secluded. We also enjoyed the "old california" feel of the buildings, in contrast to the faux french or italian style decor that you see in many wine country resorts. Complimentary continental breakfast is served in the hotel restaurant and it is very good, though it would have been nice to have scrambled eggs, a frittata or some other protein.

Overall, this was a great getaway, and an excellent value. We especially appreciated the friendly staff, who helped make us feel at home.

This is a lovely hotel on a beautiful and well-tended site. Originally a farmstead with a large barn, the hotel was established by adding out-buildings where most of the rooms are. There are a few individual cottages which I stayed in once -- very private with hardwood floors and nice appointments and a large bathroom. I recently stayed in a downstairs room, also with hardwood floors, a bit smaller, but still spacious. The beds are comfortable, although high. The rooms have a nice desk. An extensive continental breakfast comes with the room. There are good conference rooms for meetings. The hotel is just four blocks from the Sonoma Square. My out-of-town guests loved being in such a nice residential neighborhood within walking distance of the stores and restaurants.

Room Tip: If you are sensitive to noise, ask for an interior room away from Broadway.

The room I stayed in was an upstairs room with ample space, excellent services, and beautiful decor. The restaurant was excellent and had great breakfast. The grounds are lovely and had nice little sitting areas. Walking distance to downtown; just a few blocks.

I was surprized that at such a lovely hotel the hot water ran out in the middle of my morning shower. The internet connection was VERY slow and the coffee was terrible...but to be fair, getting a good cup of coffe hasn't come to Sonoma.

Please accept my apologies for the issues you experienced during your visit. I wanted to let you know I followed up as these are all areas I consider extremely important for our guests - a great shower, a fast wireless connection and a good cup of coffee.
We found the problem with the hot water heater in your suite and it has been repaired, and I was glad you had a chance to speak with our Director of Operations and he was able to make an adjustment to your bill and also happy to hear you and your wife enjoyed your visit with us.
I spoke with the company that provides our wireless support and they think it may have been the stormy weather that caused your connection to be slow. Our wireless system usually works very well, and for the future please know we have 24/7 support where they can log in and identify and fix most problems quickly.
I'm not sure which coffee you are referring to as we offer 3 on property, but please let me know as we recently switched to Keurig coffee makers in the Lobby and all guest rooms and selected Tully's French Roast for them and so far have had very positive feedback. In the restaurant we have a special MacArthur Place blend from local roaster Barking Dog that they created for us 12 years ago that also typically gets positive comments from our guests, and we use Illy for our espresso and other coffee drinks.
Thank you for sharing your comments - we take them very seriously and that is how we improve. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the near future!
Best regards,
Bill Blum, General Manager

My daughter and I spent the weekend in a upstairs suite with fireplace. We found the room and grounds were clean and well appointed. The Inn is in a wonderful location and close to everything. This is a great place to stay while visiting the California wine country. They helped us arrange a great limo tour and we took advantage of spa services. We loved it and would not hesitate to return.
