“Great foo didn't stay in hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

We have been here a few times on trips to the wine country and we really enjoy the food location and ambiance of the restaurant. We made the mistake of going to dry creek kitchen in Sonoma one time and this place Is definitely much much better that that. Not cheap but good food and consistent good service. Hope to come back soon.

The Eldorado has a great setting by the town square; convenient to shops, etc. We had a very comfortable room with French door out to a balcony overlooking the pool area. The room was clean, simple and just right (No teddy bears or dried flowers). Our dinners on the back patio were fabulous!!! All the staff, house-keepers, front desk, servers, were very friendly and professional. Can't wait to return...!

Room Tip: We stayed in #18 and loved it. Do not pass up the restaurant!

The El Dorado is a reasonably priced, well-kept hotel with an exceptional staff. I would have given it 5 stars, if the room had been nicer. It was fine, clean and comfortable, but certainly not exceptional. The main part of the historic hotel was very attractive. I read reviews about some noise problems, but this was not something we experienced. We stayed in one of the "cottages," not the main part of the hotel. We did hear the garbage truck in the mornings, but we were already awake. If you stay here, don't overlook the bar and restaurant, which are both exceptional.

My husband and I had dinner at this restaurant after leaving the girl and the fig since they didn't have Chardonnay on the menu and that is what my husband wanted! What a nice find - the hostess was warm and inviting, even though we didn't have a reservation on a busy night. We sat in a lovely outside garden under a huge fig tree. Food was very good, flavorful, fresh and creative. Our server Todd couldn't have been nicer and and helpful with wine pairing. A very special evening!

Front desk is a reason to stay longer at this very nice decored hotel. Receptionist helped out with loads of good seighs and hicke tips. Then you discover the rest of this little pearl. Good taste decor, clean top nice rooms, excellent food, peacefull hotel w cosy pool and atmosphere. To be Highly recommended and the best stop so far on our 1 month US Highway One trip.

It was the perfect day to have a birthday lunch, perfect setting under an old fig tree. Enjoyed the summer salad tremendously. The vegetable panini had delightful favours but the Reuben was a bit fatty for me. Lovely, simply

We stayed 2 nights at the hotel. Lila at the desk was the BEST. She made so many suggestions and gave us passes to several Sonoma Valley wineries. The room was clean, but small. I liked the ipod clock/radio. It had some music/nature sound options to drown out noises from downstairs or outside. We spent sometime by the outdoor pool. There are 3 very nice daybeds for lounging, and we had no problems securing one each day for our use. The pool itself was way too warm (felt like bath water on an already very hot day!). Also, it was a bit strange that diners on the patio next door had to look at us swimming.

The kitchen was AMAZING. The chef sent out a couple special bites to try that was a nice touch. The fries were a heaping pile (very good but we shouldn't have ordered them). I had the risotto and it was the best risotto I have and will ever have in my entire life. I am ruined for risotto. If your staying at the hotel, you can bring 1 bottle to dinner and they'll waive the corkage for you.

We were also fortunate enough to stay here on a Tuesday which is Farmer's Market in the square. What a hoot! The ENTIRE town of Sonoma was in the square drinking, eating, socializing, etc. How cool is that?!

Stay here. Eat here. You won't regret it!
