“Adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2015

Nothing to write home about. Sparse utilitarian rooms may put some off but clean and serviceable with all amenities within walking distance. Not the friendliest welcome but we all have off days. Would try another property if there is a next time.

Too bad we only stayed overnight, because I think we would love to spend more time at the hotel and the city. The beds were super comfortable and the room was quite big. The bathroom had a heating system, which was really good because it was quite chilly that night.

the room and bathroom are clean. Breakfast provided across the hotel. I like it because it was really close to the starting line, about 3 blocks away. close to shops, wine tasting, and restaurants. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a repeat visit- we stayed here 2 years ago and really loved it so we thought we'd stay here again. The location of this hotel is really convenient, but then again all the hotels in Solvang are within walking distance to the town centre. The hotel is still nice, but it didn't feel as nice as last time. Perhaps it's because it's pretty much stayed the same as last time. It's still clean and tidy, but the room is starting to show its age. The A/C vents were quite dusty, and the water pressure was poor (it was also very hard to get it to stay at the optimal temperature).
The value is still there, but it would be nice if the owners introduced some new things, like an in-room safe. Although not the fault of the owners, we were awoken every morning at about 8am but loud machinery from next door.

We stayed here on recommendation from a friend who lives in the area and are glad we did.

The rooms are spacious, clean and minimalist but with everything you need. The free wifi is faster than a lot of big hotels. The inn also gives you 2 for 1 wine tasting vouchers for the local wineries which was a big saving for us as we explored wine country. There are also free bicycles you can use if you plan on being sober enough to drive them.

We got a great deal on the rate and the staff were friendly and helpful at check in.

I would recommend the Hamlet Inn to anyone thinking of staying in the Solvang/Santa Ynez areas.

Sure, the Hamlet Inn is not a luxury hotel, but that's the beauty of staying here. At first glance, the room is very bare. There are no head boards on the beds, no dressers, microwave or any other unnecessary add on in the room; it leaves plenty of space in the room to place your bags when you go shopping. It also has a huge shower, complimentary wi-fi, a fridge, coffee maker, hair dryer and the front desk provided me with a voucher for a complimentary breakfast at Olsen's Bakery across the street. There is also a small lounge area outside as well as free bike rental (just ask the front desk person for the keys to unlock the chains). Unfortunately, the parking is very limited and the parking spaces are slightly narrow for SUVs and vans. Noise was also a problem at night and dawn mainly because the adjacent room was celebrating a special occasion.

We came here for a couples weekend and the other couple selected this hotel. We weren't expecting too much because it's Solvang and unless you plan on spending $400/night you are not getting an amazing hotel, but this place does the job well! It reminds me of a hybrid, boutique inn and you can tell that they've put their own unique touches.

There are a total of 16 rooms with close, convenient parking. The front desk rep was very friendly and helpful with directions. It is in a great location of the town. The free bikes are a great touch and very nice way to see the town. We stayed at the Royal Copenhagen last time and this is definitely a step up from that. Very pleased!
