My wife and recently stayed here for one night, and had a fantastic time. The overall charm of the place is apparent when you turn off of Hwy 246. The rooms are very clean, well taken care of and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was equally fantastic, with some homemade granola and a personal frittata made fresh when you sit down to eat. The staff quickly made us feel like we were family, we will definitely be making return trips in the near future.

Our long weekend stay was perfect until the last morning. We had been at the casino until late and were looking forward to sleeping in. However, when the maid showed up to clean the room next door early Sunday she carried on a loud conversation (on her cell phone it seems since we didn’t hear another voice) for well over 30 minutes. Other than that, I can’t really say anything terribly bad about this place – and from other reviews I’ve read, we were in just a basic room. It’s certainly not the Ritz Carlton, but it is way more charming with a slower, relaxed atmosphere and I didn’t have to sell my firstborn to stay here. We look forward to coming back in the Spring or Summer when we can enjoy the beautiful courtyard!

Pros:
Great staff (well, except for that one maid…)
Very clean rooms and grounds
Lots of hot water
Decent towels
Hairdryer
Good-sized room
Comfy bed with extra blanket
Wi-fi worked well
Refrigerator
Convenient parking
Quiet – minimal road noise even in front room
Brightly lit sign is an easy landmark to spot at night

Cons:
Drastic shortage of outlets for today’s electronic driven world
Small shower
No exhaust fan in bathroom
Toilet takes forever to fill (over 3 minutes, which in the middle of the night is quite annoying)
No facial tissue
Room needs a second nightstand
Overstuffed pillows were uncomfortable
Only one luggage rack (seriously, who comes here alone?)
Thin walls – could hear the sounds of the conversations next door
Breakfast just OK – too many oatmeal/granola type foods (but if Wifey was writing this review she would rate this a Pro)

At best the A/C-heater unit would blow cool air so we used the electric heater stored in the closet. We were warned not to use it on the same circuit as the TV or the wall heater. We mistakenly assumed that meant when they were running. So we turned the TV off and plugged in the heater. It worked great until early in the morning when it shut off. I’m guessing the refrigerator compressor kicked on and blew the circuit breaker. No problem – I just plugged it into the outlet behind the coffee maker and had heat again. And the next morning all we had to do was let them know and they reset the breaker. This is not a complaint – just a note to use the correct outlet so you don’t look as stupid as we did.

My husband and I stayed in this property for two nights as part of a road trip to Central CA. We chose the hotel because it accepted small dogs. This is a older drive in motel that has been reinvented and is just delightful! Sometimes these properties can be a bit "too much", but this property is extremely well done. It has charming outside grounds, easy access and you drive right up to your door! But the thing which impressed me most was how CLEAN everything was! The room had hardwood floors and the bathroom was mostly white tile and everything just gleamed! Our unit had two queen beds, very comfortable, with matching quilts and a small kitchen area. Our dog loved the property as there were two large lawns at the front of the property on either side where she could run and play in safety. The property is about one mile out of downtown Solvang and gets wonderful views of the valley.

This was truly our home away from home. Our family was here for my grandson's wedding. What a delightful well appointed place. No cookie cutter chain hotel room for us as this was like coming home. I had a charming room with faux fireplace heater, quilted comforter and pillow shams plus a table and comfy chairs. This homey atmosphere was not lacking in modern conveniences as there was a fridge, coffee, coffee maker and hair dryer. Besides cups and glasses there were also wine glasses (well you are in wine country).

Hostess, Margaret, was most gracious and her kindly staff were most helpful. My daughters were arranging flowers for the wedding so it was great to be able to drive right up to her door and unload many containers of flowers. She had booked a unit with a kitchen which has a full size fridge which we needed for the flowers, it was also furnished with dishes and a small dining table. Smiling staff provided us with extra trash cans we requested. Everyone was so friendly.

Every morning Margaret surprised us with a tasty breakfast just out of the oven. We all gave her rave reviews each morning. She was so gracious to even share a recipe with us. This is a very giving and sharing place and if they can help, they will. One of my daughters needed an iron and ironing board and it was brought to her. Would you like to have a BBQ? Just ask and it will be reserved for you. There is a pool and a large lawn play area if you have children. Also a cute gazebo for outside gathering. Each unit has outdoor chairs for sunning or reading.

Meadowlark oozes comfort. The beds here are super comfortable. My sons-in-law did not want to get up in the morning as they had slept so well. You are far enough off the road so it is very quiet and peaceful. This is a great location as it is right between Santa Ynez and downtown Solvang with handy access to the local wineries and tasting rooms in Solvang.

This will certainly be our "go to" place whenever we are in the area.

Room Tip: Don't think there is a bad room in the place. Two of us were in the first rooms on the west sid...

From the instant you check-in you know that this is a special place. The warm greetings and the special attention from the staff I'd like to say were the best part, but from the grapes growing on the fence in the entrance, to the charming rooms (ours had a huge jacuzzi tub with separate bedroom and bath) with vaulted ceilings, wine glasses, dishes, microwave, coffee maker and FOUR POSTER BED with a QUILT, it's hard to say what the best part is!!!

And what a cook! Quiche and frittata for breakfast, along with fresh cornbread, English muffins, bagels, oatmeal, eggs, juice, coffee, cereal... what a magical place.

Thank you Meadowlark for a great stay.

Room Tip: All rooms are great but the Pinot suite was the BEST!

Stayed here for one night on our honeymoon trip. Beautiful setting very peaceful and lovely gardens to relax in.
Our room was lovely, very clean and a great shower. Nice touch having some wine glasses in the room and also a fridge.
Breakfast was good and the ginger cake delicious.
Wish we'd had more time here to spend relaxing. Would definitely recommend.

My husband and I stayed here for in anniversary weekend escape.
The service was excellent as soon as we booked it.
We arrived late on a Friday night and were so delighted by the room. We stayed in the Pinot suite. It was perfect. We also booked the romance package and wine tour package. Our wine and glasses were waiting for us when we arrived, paired with the jacuzzi tub made for an excellent wind down after a long drive.
The complimentary breakfast was great, more than one might expect, and we got to enjoy it in the bright and charming dining room while looking out on the peaceful gardens.
We were picked up at 11am for our wine tour by Brigitte (I may be spelling that wrong). She was instantly friendly and such a pleasure to have as our guide. We visited four unique and fantastic wineries. Excellent wine in beautiful settings.
Our romance package 1 hr massages were scheduled at 5. We arrived back at the Inn with time to relax before our masseuses knocked on the door. The massages were out of this world amazing. Seriously. Amazing.
We then had dinner reservations at 7:30 at Mirabelle's restaurant. Oh my goodness! That place is so cute and perfect for an intimate, romantic dinner. The food was phenomenal and the service was impeccable.
Finishing the night off with a stroll around Solvang made for the perfect end to a perfect day.

I highly recommend staying here and definitely book some of the outstanding packages. The rates are beyond fair for the product. I was initially concerned that we may have jammed too much into one day but at no point did we feel rushed or unhappy with our day.
