“Great Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a night a few weeks ago, and were very pleased with it. IWe had one of the rooms, not a cottage. There was a fridge and microwave in the room and the color scheme was very nice pale green and blue. The bathroom was very large; they might consider putting a small table between the tub and toilet for putting your eyeglasses, towel, etc. while you shower. Location is great! The voucher for breakfast was easy to use...just walk up to the pastry counter and the girl will show you the row of pastries to select from.

Continuing our re-visit of cities and hotels from last summer, we ended up in Solvang. This is always our final stop before our drive through L.A when we return from San Francisco. We had had bad luck with this hotel last year, but to be honest it is one of the most reasonable priced places in this area and I wanted to give them a second chance. Before we left S.F I called to see if they had a room available and was informed there was indeed a room. However, it was in the courtyard side of the property and there would be a large group of bikers staying there as well. Fancying myself a cowboy, I reckon I can put up with some bikers for one night. It all worked out ok, the bikers didn't make much noise and shut down their get together at 10PM. It was probably the quietest night I had during our weeks vacation. Last year our room was very stuffy and smoky smelling. This year our room, #109, was very basic, but it was clean and fresh. It really is a cute little place and definitely in a great location. And as I stated before, their rates are great. I'll return

We stayed an extra night at these cottages because it was such a lovely room (very large) and it was reasonably priced and had a lovely pool. Was very close to all the shops and sites and restaurants - within walking distance. Would go back there tomorrow!

We were two couples and had two rooms for one night. Both rooms were clean but smelly. In one room, the smell cleared out after opening the windows for a few hours, but the sheets of one of the beds in that room remained smelly (the pillow was not smelly.) In the other room, the smell diminished but did not go away. We kept the bathroom door closed, as that seemed to be the source of the smell. These problems were reported at the office next morning. They promised to investigate, but no 'compensation' was offered for the unpleasant night.

Room Tip: Everything was great except for the smell.

What an incredibly gracious & accommodating staff/owners! We planned a very last minute stay in Solvang. After looking into several local hotel/motels in the area who were asking upwards of $250 for the night for basic accommodations we were pleasantly surprised by what the Solvang Inn & Cottages offered. They were able to provide a lovely cottage to myself, mother & my two older children. We needed sleeping arrangements for 4 & they provided an extra rollaway at no additional charge at a rate well below the other hotel/motels. Accommodations included breakfast from Olson's Bakery & cookies given to us at check in. The staff was immediate in making sure the cottage was ready and comfortable for our stay. I highly recommend this facility to anyone staying in Solvang!

Average room, good value, great walking distance to town and shopping, staff was friendly, rooms clean, not a 5 star but clean and serviceable. Hot breakfast was basic but filling. Eggs sausage etc. Quiet, good parking. Were there for 1 night, and theyb were ok, lot of B&Bs want two night min. I would stay there again for the price.

We stayed here overnight on our way to Barstow from San Francisco. I made a reservation online and called to let them know we were arriving late. The lady I spoke with arranged an envelope with the keys, room number and map of the property and placed it on the door. I'm impressed with the simplicity of the 'check in process'. No fuzz at all.

Breakfast that goes with the room is a pastry and coffee/milk/tea at Olsen's, the bakery right in front of the place.

The room is a bit stuffy and the heating unit had a strange smell when turned on. Bathroom is clean and not smelly.
