We were in town for the Santa Barbara Wine Country Half Marathon, and decided to stop in for a cold beer the night prior to the race. Our hotel was right across the street, so it was convenient. We went directly to the bar area, figured it would be quicker than waiting for a table in the restaurant. We were very disappointed that we waited almost 15 minutes before someone even came near our table. There were 2 girls as servers in the bar area, but neither even acknowledged we were there, almost avoiding our table. A male server came to our table and asked if we had been helped, we told him no and he said that the server appeared to be very busy so he said he would help us - he then became our server - thankfully! He was very nice and promptly got our beer, which was very good and cold. I started with the Blue eyed Blonde Ale, which was very light and refreshing. I then moved on to the Amber Ale. It had a nice full flavor with a toasty after taste. Hubby had the Pale Ale, which also had a nice flavor - a little citrus-y. He also had the wings, which he said were extremely flavorful. He got the buffalo-style sauce on them, which smelled spicy and peppery. I had to run the next day, so I couldn't even try one - can't put that stuff in my stomach before a race. However a beer is ok! I did notice that people came and sat at the table next to us, and they were ignored for a bit before one of the girls eventually went over and asked if they needed anything...really? No, they just came in to watch tv - just give them a menu.... I would definitely come back again if I am in the area again - which may be next year for the same run. And might try to eat after the race, as a lot of the food that was being brought by our table looked delish!
