At one time (not too long ago) there were very few hotels in the area where I could put guests up for the night. When the need arose, I booked them into the Posada Royale, and they were generally pleased. Since the hotel changed hands less than two years ago, my out of town guests increasingly grumbled, so I decided to stay at the Posada Royale for a couple of nights, myself. Boy, am I glad I did. The service is lousy, the place is deteriorating, the breakfast has become pathetic, and the impression one gets is that "money isn't the most important thing - it's the ONLY thing." Fortunately several other properties have been constructed in the area (a Courtyard just up the street, and another one about to open in the adjacent city), several new Hilton brands, and more. I can't imagine why someone would take over a lovely hotel and run it into the ground, but it appears that this is what has happened. What I regret the most is that in the last couple of years I suggested to several others that they use this hotel. They'll probably never listen to me again! To add insult to injury, the prices have risen considerably, as well. It may now be a "Best Western," but in my book the Posada Royale has reached the end of its trail.
