We stayed at this hotel for a friends wedding that was being held nearby. The bride booked a block of rooms where several of us stayed; thankfully she stayed in a beautiful suite so she had a wonderful wedding night! Upon checking in (the bride was with me) we were greeted by a less then friendly front desk staff. We gave bottles of wine and chocolates to be passed out to the wedding guests as they checked in and they didn't seem to know what to do with this even though I would assume this is common practice among hotels. The room I was checked into had two double beds even though I requested a King and was the first in the wedding party to check in. When I requested to be moved they still refused to give me a king room. When I got into the room the air conditioning was so loud it actually made me nervous and kept turning off throughout the weekend when it was 105 outside and I was trying to come back to a cool room. Later that evening when I went out to get some ice the face plate of the door jam came loose so I could not close my room door. When I called the front desk to have someone come fix it they left me on hold for 10 minutes and then came back and said there was no maintenance crew on duty! Ummm ... my room door will not close! I requested another room or a screwdriver and I would fix it myself. She tried to put me on hold again but I advised her to please figure it out and call me back. Finally after about 30 minutes someone from the security staff came up and fixed the door. The hotel does provide free breakfast which is a very nice perk, however one of the mornings I wanted to have breakfast in my room and when I went down to grab some food I was advised that I could not take food from the buffet to my room. I had to either eat in the dining room or go back to my room and order room service and pay for the food and service charge. This has never happened to me at a hotel before, I was floored. On the day of the wedding we asked the front desk folks who got the wine and chocolates so that we could make sure anyone else checking in would get theirs and they had no idea who they gave it out to. Not only that, there was none left and we gave more then there were guests w/ reservations! The one positive thing I will say is that they provided a shuttle from the wedding location back to the hotel and it traveled back and forth about four times. The driver was a young man and was very kind. We asked him to take some of the linens from the wedding up to the bride and groom's room and when we came back in from the Elephant Bar a little while later he was in the lobby folding the linens and advised they would be in the hotel linen closet so that we did not need to cart them up and down the stairs the next day. OH YA, did I mention that they don't have an elevator or a bellman. All our rooms were on the second floor which isn't much I know but when you are carting loads and loads of wedding stuff there should at least be someone there to help if they don't have an elevator for the cart! I know this is a Best Western people but the rooms were still over $100 a night and we were there all weekend. The only way I would ever go back to this hotel is if I stayed in the suites which were very nice.
