We live in Sebastopol. Several friends had told me how great the Starlight is-- so I dropped by to read their menu on the door. Because it's in an old railroad car, I assumed it was a great dive-- and so when I saw the non-dive prices, I was a bit put off. Finally, however, after hearing more good things about it, we gave it a try. We will keep coming back.
Cheap, it's not. However, every single item was truly fresh tasting, and done with local produce. They do not cut corners-- it seems obvious. Even the candied nuts on the salad were homemade and delicious!
The menu is small but fairly well rounded-- strong seafood presence. A delicious pot pie-- crust on top-- flaky and light-- not exactly like a pie crust. bright, fresh flavors.
Burger comes with fries, rings or salad. It gets a perfect 10. We are big fans of K&L Bistro(of the Micheline * fame) , but this burger beats them by a mile. Big, perfectly cooked, depth of flavors, great bun, so juicy. Really, Really good. Can't speak to the crab cakes, but the tables on both sides of us were raving... one couple said that they come at least once a week to have them.
We had great beer as well. One was off menu-- a rotating addition and was amazing. Another was a great choice from Berkeley. Served oh-so-cold and in the appropriate glasses for the types served.
We will return as soon as we can to try some other menu items. Loved the food and the service was good.
