Description: We are a husband & wife chef team so we have 2 kinds of food: rustic Northern Italian (meaning we make all our own salami, pasta, gelato) and playful Americana (meaning we take American classics and update them with a twist). we grow up to 30% of our own produce and have our own chickens for the eggs for our pasta. otherwise, we support local, sustainable and diverse agriculture and economy in our purchasing choices. We make our own bacon and salami from heritage pork that is antibiotic and hormone free and free range. You can order our bacon from our website www.zazurestaurant.com. Come stroll through our chef's garden! We have PIZZA & PINOT nights Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. For breakfast or lunch any day, try our sister restaurant, BOVOLO, up in Healdsburg, on the square inside Copperfield's books.

“Pigtastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

California cuisine at its finest! Don't miss the bacon wrapped dates! They raise their own pigs and make their own bacon -- the bacon has a wonderful smoky taste, but doesn't over power. They have vegetarian/gluten free entrees -- I had the pumpkin tikka masala that was wonderful! Wine list has a lot of Pinots, but we were disappointed that there was only one Zinfandel -- which was very good! Loved the pig pens -- bought two of them. To find out what they are -- go to Zazu!

“Great Atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

On a recent trip to Sebastopol to check out The Barlow we decided to give Zazu a try. It was a Saturday afternoon so they were only offering their brunch menu which was very limited. I ordered the verde pizza which was a white pizza with quince - really delicious! Crust was perfectly crusty and chewy at the same time. My husband ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Both were good but the sandwich was more like half a sandwich. The sandwich could stand to be a bigger or at least offer a bowl of soup as opposed to a cup. Nice wine selection. Fantastic space. We will definitely be back for dinner as that menu has many more options.

“Fantastic brunch!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

My wife and I went here on a Sunday morning and enjoyed one of the best brunches in Sonoma County. We loved both our dishes and our servers were pleasant. We are now a little obsessed with their food...especially their bacon!

“Who knew bacon could taste this good?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

We visited the Sonoma & Napa area with friends and were steered to Zazu by a local friend who told us that if we were to eat at one restaurant, eat here - Zazu did not disappoint. The space is almost cavernous and industrial (it's in a new business park just off the main drag in Sebastopol) but great energy throughout. The menu is diverse and quite inventive. We met one of the owner/chefs - Duskie Estes - who is a trip - she gave us a couple of hints on what to order and we loved all her suggestions. The food is all sourced local - farm to table so the menu changes regularly based on what's in season. When you enter you'll quickly see that they like bacon. They have pigs on hats, shirts and, most importantly, on the menu. They raise their own pigs and cure the bacon right there in the restaurant. Some great starters are the salumi, the chicharonnes, the black pig bacon wrapped figs and the black pig bacon caramel popcorn (trust me, it's really good). If you don't like bacon don't despair, they have lots of other options like the Petaluma chicken under a brick and the fallon hills beef shank.
Come hungry! And take some Black Pig bacon with you for the road!!!

“All Things Bacon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

If you like bacon, this is not to be missed. They make it themselves and serve it many wonderful ways. I had the pork belly pie which was a delicious pizza with smoked pork belly, cheese and rapini. A friend had the 24-hour beef brisket sandwich which was great too. One in our group took home the bacon maple doughnut which she said was worth every penny when she had it for breakfast the next day.I definitely want to go back to try more items. Only drawback, is it is noisy due to hard surfaces everywhere.
