I am almost afraid to rave about K & L Bistro because it will become even harder for me to make reservations! I have only been there twice but each time the experience has been exquisite. For my first visit, my dinner companion and I had the onion soup. Seriously, you can make a meal of just that, the bread, a salad and a lovely wine. Doing so would preclude you from trying all the other wonderful items on the menu. However, we ordered halibut and also enjoyed the most wonderful risotto. That risotto inspired me to make some at home within days. A little time passed and we returned just this last week. Oh man! Once again, our meals were fabulous, an unusual marriage of texture and taste. This time we had spicy roasted tomato soup. My selected entree was swordfish with a creamy risotto, peas in a wonderful sauce. My companion had salmon that came with mushrooms in a thyme sauce. The wine selection is quite nice and we selected a chardonnay to accompany our dinners. The desserts are listed on a chalkboard for all of the partrons to see and each selection is delectable. We decided to order the trio of sorbets - a combo of coconut, blackberry and apricot. The apricot sorbet was a BAM of flavor - intense ripe peaches. The service is attentive but not intrusive. It is not a large place and the tables are somewhat close together. However, people are respectful of neighboring conversations. It is a little noisy so it is not the best place to go for a quiet conversation; it is certainly the place to go for a joyful meal where the attention to service and fine flavors are top-notch. This is one of those special places where all the elements of good dining come together, from the service to the terrific menu selection.
