This restaurant is within walking distance of our temporary home and hence we felt like giving it a go (yelp.com gave it a good write-up). The staff was very friendly and the whole restaurant had a low-key somewhat homely feeling to it. However, the best thing was the food, it was wonderful. We shared a tomato salad for two which was made up from four or five different kinds of tomatoes. It was fresh and very well executed with a minimum of fuss (it’s always difficult to get the simple things right, a real test for every restaurant!). This delicious dish was followed by a portion of Alaskan king crab legs for two. Eating those was very, very delicious and they were the best king crab legs I have had to date (a real surprise for a restaurant which key focus is steaks). The legs were juicy and soft to the bit, none of the “rubber effect” one sometimes experiences. It was really “awesome”, a word I usually try to avoid while writing about food. The desert did not let us down either. Key lime pie, home-made and very tasty. Just the right mixture of acidity and creaminess – a real feast. Several other home-made pies fitting the season were on offer but we wanted to taste the key lime as a “benchmark” for the restaurant.
All in all we had a wonderful evening and cannot wait to go back and try the steak this time! Very highly recommended. The fact that the owner Paty saw us to the table and was sitting at the bar when we left to say “good bye” was a nice touch. This combined with super food is a winning combination!
