“Fabulous!!!”

This hotel was absolutely beautiful!!! The rooms were large and spacious, and impeccably appointed. The bathroom was beautiful, it had a nice sofa and coffee table in there. And the beds? They were about the most comfortable beds we'd ever slept on. The linens and down pillows and comforters were SO luxurious! Check in and checkout were easy, and the staff pleasant. Only thing I was surprised at was seeing a $1.00 charge for calling the restaurant across the street to make a reservation. (I thought that was kind of ridiculous). Upon entering the hotel lobby around 5:30, I could smell fresh baked cookies, and saw and empty platter, which was never refilled for the remainder of the evening. Kind of a tease! but I would highly recommend staying at the hotel for comfort, convenience, luxury and a feeling of being pampered.
We got a pretty good deal, and were charged $117.00 for a saturday night!
My only regret (other than not getting to try the cookies!) is that we had to check out early the next morning, and were unable to enjoy their breakfast. But my husband was able to get us a couple cups of coffee from the breakfast room, and it was GREAT!

“Perfect in every way”

Ayres Hotel Seal Beach

Apr 23, 2008

We chose this hotel because of the excellent reviews, and we were not at all surprised to find this hotel perfect in every way. The beds are very comfortable, room is spacious and very clean, located in a quiet and good neighborhood, what can we ask for more? Thumbs up!

We will definitely stay here again if we are in L.A.

“Great European Style Hotel in SoCal”

Ayres Hotel – 12850 Seal Beach Blvd., Seal Beach, CA

www.ayreshotel.com

This hotel is located right off Interstate 405 in Seal Beach – about 4 miles from the ocean and close to various chain stores and restaurants. It advertises itself as a European-style hotel and there are some European touches - except it has modern, spacious elevators.

It is about a 5 year old, 100 room hotel. It is 3 stories tall and has 2 elevators. There are tile floors throughout the hotel and in part of the rooms. There is a heated outdoor pool with a covered veranda. The staff is very professional and attentive. There is an exercise room with a treadmill, bike and step machine – the bathroom in the exercise room has a scale. The rooms are nice and relatively roomy standard hotel rooms. The room we had had tall, multilevel ceilings. We had 2 queen beds, a small refrigerator & a microwave. There was a desk with high speed internet via an ethernet cable supplied by the hotel. There is a public computer in the lobby with a printer that can be used free of charge. There are free USA Today newspapers is in the lobby.

A nice breakfast is included in the price. It includes cereal, pancakes, juices, scrambled eggs, sausages, hash browns, fruits and berries. If you bring a guest, the charge for breakfast is $6. In the evening (5:30 – 7:00 PM) there is a reception that has beer, wine & hors dourves.

I paid $112 for a Sunday night and then $124 per night M-W. I had originally contracted for $129 and then $159 with an AAA rate, but if you mention that you are visiting someone in Leisure World (a retirement residence about a mile away), they give you the lower rate!

I and my family enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.

“Best beds in town”

Unless you are visiting an elderly resident at Sunrise (next door) this is not the best location, but the beds are really comfortable, the furnishings romantic yet new, very clean, very roomy and efficient layout, and the included breakfast is Great!

The fitness room is nothing to right home about - very small, a couple of pieces of cardio, etc. but the outdoor pool and jacuzzi looked nice but surrounded by parking lot screened by bushes. The staff are OK -nothing to write home about. Actually the best staff member is there graveyard shift guy - the others are mediocre.

I choose this place because of the consistency of the comfort of the beds and the breakfast. I once did get nubby sheets and changed rooms immediately - very unusual as usually the sheets are great. The decor and roomy interior, and the cleanliness are also key. Choose second floor or higher or you could have car lights or guests looking in.

    • Liked — comfortable, spacious and luxurious room - great bed!
    • Disliked — location and mediocre staff

“A very nice, European hotel”

Ayres Hotel Seal Beach

I love the Ayres Hotel in Seal Beach.

The staff is polite and friendly. The lobby and common areas are tastefully decorated and very clean.

The rooms are LARGE (both big rooms and tall ceilings) and tastefully decorated. The beds are very comfortable. The bathrooms are spacious.

The breakfast is quite good for a free hotel breakfast. They have a nice outdoor patio with a small waterfall and vines growing overhead. Very peaceful. There is a nice, small pool.

For this part of California, the prices are very fair.

I've stayed at the Ayres several times on business, and am very pleased every time. It is a great value, and a wonderful hotel.

I wish the managers of many other hotels would come to the Ayres and learn how to run a proper hotel...
