This was a three day trip to San Francisco and we thought it would be nice to stay in Sausalito away from the crowds of the City. We made the right decision for sure. It is wonderful to take the ferry that is located a short walk across the street to either the Ferry Building or Pier 41. The view of the Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, SF skyline, are awesome and you will pass right by Alcatraz. The ferry schedule is available at the desk or Valet is happy to help. Just know that during the week the last ferry back is 5:30pm (later on weekends). We spent more time and took a cab back (about 22.00).
The staff at the hotel was so nice and friendly starting with the valet. The rooms were very clean, well decorated but a bit small. There was a lovely court yard area with modern seating. My husband used this as he smokes. We were on the top floor and that can be a problem for him when he needs a smoke but there was a back door to a beautiful large multi level open area.
Having the beautiful village of Sausalito to take a walk ,shop or have a nice meal is just magical. All along having one of the most spectacular views of the greatest city in the world.
The only downside we had was after meeting friends in Napa for dinner we returned about midnight to discover there was not Valet to take our car. We learned later that the desk clerk would have done it for us. Not a big problem for we parked in the parking lot just across the street for the night. The fee was 22.00 but the Valet was 24 dollars a day and the hotel was more than happy not to charge us for the night for their service.
The only other down side was when we returned to the room at 3:30 our room had not been made up and we had to get ready for dinner. In my opinion that is a small thing and I understood that we were the last room on the floor. When everything else is so nice it is easy to forgive the small things.
I left my heart in SF a long time ago but now a piece of it is in Sausalito at the Casa Madrona! Many thanks to the staff and the Valet guys for all their help.
