“Picnics, fishing, paddle boats, and horseshoes.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

This is a great place for a family day. Santee lakes has it all including a small store for forgotten items. The park facilities are well maintained and the fishing is usually descent. There is a campground on site and too many amenities to list. While all the tourists are crowding the beaches, this is a great place go.

“Seven Lovely Lakes & Lots of FUN!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

If you're ever in Santee & you enjoy parks & nature, you will love Santee Lakes. It is a series of man-made lakes, that filters water which is then recirculated to irrigate both the park's & the city's lovely landscaping. The park offers a very picturesque setting that invites visitors to enjoy fishing, boating, hiking, picnicking, bird watching, feeding the ducks, or just sitting back on the grass & enjoying a warm sunny day. The lake is regularly stocked, so you're pretty sure to catch a fish or two, just make sure you have the necessary license, permits, etc., which I believe are available to purchase at the General Store. There is plenty of shade, which I've found sadly lacking at many San Diego area parks. There are numerous picnic table areas with BBQ's, mostly covered. There is at least one BIG gazebo, & the park is a perfect place for any celebration, family reunions, birthdays, even weddings. I believe the picnic areas & the gazebo are able to be reserved, but please check ahead with the office to make sure, & for more info & to arrange the details. They also have a boat rental, & the restrooms are clean & have flush toilets & running water. There is also a nice small campground. I don't know the prices or details, but it looks like a great place to spend a night, or longer. We lived in Santee for years before moving to Oregon, & have visited Santee Lakes many times. I highly recommend it as one of the nicest parks in all of San Diego County.

“Awesome park!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

Omg! I could live there! So beautiful. Everything was clean and nice. You have a choice of floating cabins or land cabins, along with tons of RV sites with various ammenities. The laundry room was clean and all mof the equipment was in good working order. The staffers we met were all professional and good-natured folk.

“Fun for the Whole Family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

This place has 7 pond/lakes for fishing. Although we caught nothing we had a great time! A neighboring little guy caught his limit of 5 within the 1st hour. We will definately be back to this place many times in the near future. $9 for adult fishing license and 6$ for kids - no state license required ( a huge plus for alot of people) only $5 to park for the day. This place also hosts a sprayground and for $2 your kids can have a blast within this water area while adults relax . Also has floating cabins and lake front cabins for rent, all fully airconditioned (very nice inside) we asked maintenance if we could sneak a peek as they cleaned :) Friendly staff all around the park. A bit turned off by peopole actually living within the park, but very nice rv's no trailer trash here and all camping is at the very end.
