“The Restaurant that Time Forgot”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

My friends called this "the restaurant that time forgot." It literally–iceberg lettuce salads, steaks with no seasonings, decor––was like a restaurant from the 1950s. It's closed now, being remodeled for a new restaurant by some guys who can really cook.

“Simply the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

We have never had anything but the most delicious, beautifully prepared meals in the cozy, rustic atmosphere with fireplace. Anyone we take agrees it is the most tender, melt in your mouth prime rib they've ever eaten, along with the delicious garlic mashed potatoes, warm, fresh bread and almost too beautiful to eat salads (try the Blue Cheese dressing if you like it, this is the best ever). Don't miss out on this treat, although I heard it might be under new management soon, so hopefully the menu and quality remain the same.

“AN ICON NOW CLOSED”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2012

I have been eating here for years. The food has always been excellent and the ambiance, cozy and local. Seems its been bought out by The Brothers who took over Mattei's Tavern a few years ago and they are in the process of remodling it and the menu will probably change too. I expect another expensive, not-much-on-your-plate, fru-fru L.A. restaurant experience that are a dime a dozen, now. Sad. Time will tell. If the orginal place was still in business I would have given it a VERY GOOD rating.

“Nice, local hangout”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

Recommended as a "local hangout." this restaurant was a perfect break from the mass of tourists and tourist restaurants in Solvang. Service was friendly, food was good, but two glasses of wine put us over $100. A little pricey but not excessive. I'd go back.
