“Best Place Ever for Family Reunions.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2011

My husbands family comes from four different states to get together for a week and since they tried it 3 years ago they won't stay anywhere but the Flamingo Resort Hotel. Age group runs from a 4 month old to 97 year old, and everyone has a great time. The cousins said decided to eat at the hotel restaurant for the last few nights because they said it was the best food and service they experienced. There's something for everyone. Happy Hour by the Pool, Spa, Gym and centrally located for day trips to other small towns. Very convenient as there's a grocery and drug store within easy walking distance if you need to pick up something. Also great shopping a few blocks away. This is a no-brainer.

Room Tip: Just tell the staff what's important to you.

Stayed here for almost a week as we checked out Napa, Sonoma and other winery regions in area. Very centrally located to all. Not close to freeway so very quiet and peaceful and private. Lush and established landscaping gives place a definite resort feel. Excellent staff did everything we asked of them. Would recommend above all the Santa Rosa hotels closer to freeway. We were there for pleasure but facility appears to be ideal for business as well as lots of high-quality space and service available. Super comfy king size bed too.

The hotel rooms are set in five spokes off of the middle circle. The spokes are numbered from 100-500. There are two floors (no elevators that I noticed), and a corridor down each spoke so that there rooms in each section had rooms on the left and on the right as you walked down the corridor. I stayed in room 222 which is on the 2nd floor of the 200 spoke. It looked out onto a footpath with trees and greenery. Although the walls seemed to be a little thin, as noise from the hallway could be heard, it was not bad. Some members of my group that stayed the 1st floor of the 200 rooms had trouble with the noise and smoking (in non-smoling rooms) of other guests. Although reported to the front desk, the trouble continued. Other people in my group stayed in different areas. The rooms in the 500 sections were apparently the newest, and the ones in the 400 section the oldest. The condition of the 400 level room they had been assigned to was such that those group members requested (and were provided) a room in a different section. Room 103 had two doors: one opening into the 100-level rooms corridor, and the other opening into the main circular corridor. The noise from the lounge, as well as from guests walking by (chatting, laughing) was a bit disturbing.

The large outdoor pool was not open during the time I was there (mid March), but one morning it was fun to see ducks swimming in it. The highly-cholerinated outside hot tub was frequently in use.

There is a Safeway (with a Starbucks) and a CVS near the hotel. I did not try the restaurants or bar at the hotel. The bar seemed to be an active place on the weekends especially.

This property is great for a conference, less so as a "resort". There is an attached fitness center (which is also for paying members of the community) and spa services available, but they would be best as a supplement to a business trip or other travel, not as the focus of a trip!

Service and front desk were friendly and most cooperative. Executive King room was large, but nothing remarkable... Bathroom was very small, 2 people could barely use it at the same time... towels were thin and small.. noisy frig and no microwave. Our room was in the back and was quiet, but other times when we have stayed here in the past, we found that the rooms in the front can be noisy. Try Nonnie's Restuarant Italian for a great meal.

We stayed during cold and damp May, so could not use excellent pool. Nice vibe with outdoor music. Restaurant quality is good with fantastic Sunday brunch. About 2 miles to downtown and shopping.
There is a fitness center, but it is not part of the hotel and costs $12 per day.

We spent a weekend at the Flamingo and had a wonderful time. Loved the wagon wheel design. The rooms were quite comfortable. Great pool and spa. Staff was great too. We would return.
