My wife and I stayed at the motel for a wedding.
We got a group rate, but I noticed the stated rates on the back of the door and I would have been displeased if I had paid that much.
As I mentioned in the title of the review, the good and bad evened out.
Good
* lobby looked nice and the breakfast bar area was very nicely kept
* Our room was fine. The bed was very comfortable and the water pressure was fine in the shower
* free breakfast was a pretty nice spread
* loved the free Internet
* about a ten minute drive from downtown Santa Rosa
* friendly staff for checking in and checking out
Bad
* The outside of the hotel was pretty run down. There was a large hole in the exterior hallway floor that had been covered with a piece of plywood - I think it had been that way for a while because there was a caution pylon that had been strapped to the railing right next to it with plastic straps
* the door didn't look very secure to me - you could see the outside in the crack between the door and the door frame
* my wife didn't agree with me on this one, but I'll share it nonetheless - there was a message that made it clear that they wanted this to be a good stay, etc., etc. That was appreciated, but they essentially said to let them know now rather than nail them on the Intercontinental Hotel survey that follows one's stay. Thought it was odd to bring that up. If they just said they wanted our stay to be an excellent one, that's one thing, but to tie it to a survey didn't seem right to me.
* They also had a little plastic sign above the toilet that pointed out that it was a low-flow toilet and to flush it numerous times before calling them. The sign itself made sense, but the tone didn't seem friendly to me.
* Right next to the freeway. I can sleep through anything, but it did bother my wife.
* Excited to see that we had a balcony, but there was no furniture for us to sit on.
There was also a nice looking pool, but we didn't use it.
One thing we absolutely loved. Of all the places we've ever stayed, this was one of less than a handful that actually let us re-use our towels and bed sheets. We hung the towels as instructed on the card and they actually left them there. Most hotels that I've stayed at that has these sorts of conservation programs do not honor my request and end up giving me unneeded fresh towels and sheets. It's a waste of resources and it always strikes me as a public relations ploy rather than actually caring about the environment.
