“Very nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2007

My husband and I stayed at Hotel La Rose 4 nights in October. Our room was on the third floor with only a skylight window. It was quite small, but otherwise, just fine.
We did not experience the street noise that other reviews discuss. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. You have to request ice, but when we did, our request was filled promptly by friendly staff. The breakfast was plentiful and kept stocked throughout the serving times. No hot items, but lots of bagles, cereal, etc.
It's true that there is a homeless population often hanging out across the street, but we never felt threatened or frightened. They were just homeless people, not bullies.
We ate dinner at the restaurant. Dinner was fine, but not particularly memorable. We had drinks at the bar a couple of times. The bartender was very friendly and we enjoyed our visits, sitting at a table near the window.
There is free parking across the street--always a bonus.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would happily stay here again if we visit this region in the future.

We just returned from a four day stay at the Hotel La Rose. We had a great time, the room was large, clean and quite, we also had a big and comfortable king size bed.

The lobby was beautifully decorated for the Christmas holidays. The hotel staff are really nice and helpful. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant because each night it was booked by locals for their Christmas partys. To make up for not being able to sit at the bar we were given complimentary glasses of wine each evening. There was always a tray of home baked cookies in the lobby as well. The breakfast buffet was very good.

As for access to Sanoma Valley (Russian River) it was a breeze and we even had a relatively short drive to the ocean to see the sunset. The neighborhood was clean and safe, we had several nice restaurants to choose from.

As for wine tasting check out Lancaster (by appointment for some fantastic reds), Bella for a late harvest Zif, Trentadue and Dry Creek for a nice Ports, Stryker and Gary Farrell for nice reds and and great views.

I would love the opportunity to stay at this fine place in the future!

We were pleasantly surprised by the Hotel La Rose. Staff were great and treated us nice. The room was so very cozy. The beds are absolutely wonderful and clean bathrooms. This area has a lot to offer, there are good restaurants nearby , Antique stores and coffee shops. We have already re booked for our next stay in Santa Rosa. We have to say it was a wonderful experience. We travel a lot and are not always pleased with the hotels we end up in but here at The Hotel La Rose we were very happy. We will not look any further when we come to Santa Rosa we will always stay here.

If you are looking to stay at a Non Chain hotel, consider this place. We stayed in the original hotel building which is 100 years old. (moderized and excellent condition) There is also a newer facility across the street owned by La Rose if you would like, but you won't be dissapointed with either. The hotel was very clean, well maintained, equiped with and elevator and the staff was wonderful. (Did I mention the Staff was wonderful!)

Within walking distance to many very good restauants. Ask about "Checkers" for a light and wonderful lunch. For a great dinner, try "Syrah" just around the corner. Be warned that most restaurants in the area you will spend $80 - 100 per couple for dinner, including a glass of wine (or two).

Very nice town. Used Santa Rosa as home base to tour Senoma wine country. We plan to return to the area to spend more time. Will definately stay at Hotel La Rose again.

My wife an I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights.
we had a king room in the carriage house which is just across the street from the main hotel. The room was very big, king bed sofa two chairs and table. we had 2nd floor room which had a balcony with two chairs and small table. the room over looked a small courtyard with a fountain and roses.
the bed was very nice and the linens were very good.
the room also came with breakfast each morning. nice spread bagels lox toast fruit coffee tea and asst muffins. Everyone was very nice at the hotel. Very nice city with a lot of shops and resturants. Hotel is just a few block from highway 101.

This is a wonderful hotel for many reasons. The entire staff is fantastic - kind, helpful, nice, intelligent, happy, responsive. The building is beautiful. The breakfast is great. The location is ideal. The parking is easy.

This is an ideal place for a special wedding, anniversary, or other event.

This is an ideal place to stay to visit Sonoma wine country and other places in the north bay.

We think this is the best hotel in the world.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the La Rose for a few days, and we were thoroughly impressed with the entire experience. From the time we arrived, we were greeted with smiles and helpful suggestions of places to go and things to see. The entire staff was friendly and helpful, and seemed to truely enjoy thier jobs. Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated in antiques. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was very clean. The location was great. We were able to walk to restaurants, shops and wine lounges. The restaurant at the hotel was also very good. The room rates were very reasonable for such wonderful accommodations and exceptional service. We look forward to our next visit at the La Rose.
