“The hotel did not seem open. Skeleton crew only, shut down pool and firepit at 10. Tired place.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2011 via mobile

The hotel is away from good restaurants and good urban activity. The hotel staff was so limited it almost seemed like it was about to close down. Lobby and pool furniture needs cleaning, hotel restaurant is deserted.

The room itself was clean, but appointed in a typical business-hotel manner.

They close the pool at 10! The have a beautiful gas firepit, but they close it at 10! There is bar in the lobby, but it was only open for coffee. Pool bar was never open, even in the heat of a June day.

This is a poorly managed hotel. Find another hotel to stay.

Our family was going to initially stay 2 night overnight in a Safari West Tent, but the heat and mosquitoes got the best of us. So we were debating to stay either at the nicer more "Luxurious" Hyatt Santa or the Flamigo Resort. We are so glad that we stayed here. A little reluctant at first because the earlier reviews on some of the websites had complaints, but the stay was EXCELLENT. Fast and courteous checking. Quick and responsive room service. Nice courtyard with great statues and artwork (make sure to check out the large black flowing water wall in the back. Very nice pool and spa. Excellent Restaurant attached to the hotel - VERY GOOD service.

Make sure to go for a walk or run in the Great Santa Rosa Creek Park park behind the hotel. Very convenient to downtown restaurants and shops. Mall is next door.

For a Family, this place was great. VERY quite and new rooms (slightly small but more than adequate). Clean, cool, and NOT overcrowded pool / jacuzzi. Backyard park (just across the bridge over the backyard creek) that had large redwoods. Large nice mall next door - 10 minute walk through the park. Free FULL breakfast for two (best deal) at the Excellent restaurant with a AAA special - book online and check the AAA special.

Room Tip: Like the 1st floor rooms with patio.

We stayed here as part of a week long trip in northern California. We ended up getting put in the handicap room with a patio. We had requested the patio and enjoyed being able to sit and enjoy the fireplace and have a glass of wine at night or read in the morning. I was hesitant to stay here due to some of the poor reviews on the website, but we did not run into the poor service others complained about. The handicapp room was a bit interesting because the shower head was low, however neither of us are tall and the only problem we had was the angle of the head ran some water on the floor. A quick phone call to the desk delivered more towels and each day extra towels were replaced without an added call. We also arrived late in the day and the concierge was gone. Another employee was walking by while we were checking out the desk and quickly asked us if we needed help and what wineries we were planning on going to and gave us free tasting for those and surrounding wineries. He had his jacket on and bag, so he obviously was either leaving or just getting there but still helped us. Also Alix at the front was very helpful with questions we had for dinner and other things. Restaurant was pricey but we had a package with free breakfast. Beds were nothing special and room decoration was sparse, but I slept comfortably and don't really need pretty pictures to look at, although I did think it was strange there were no headboards.

Room Tip: tall people, don't get the handicap room

This hotel accused me of damaging a TV that my family did not do. I never had this happen before in my 35 years of staying in hotels and now have to go through a process of defending myself. My advise is not to stay here. Who knows what shenanigans they try to pull when they have your credit card number. Now, do we have to take a picture of a room upon departure to prove wrongful accusations after the fact? And, they just put it on my card ($885.00) without any notification. That is cold!

Had a room with a patio, so we were able to enjoy the sunshine. Room was pricey, but the hotel accommodations were very nice. The hotel has a nice lobby and an outside patio to socalize with friends and family. Very, very comfortable beds.

This hotel is adjacent to Railroad Square, a historic center in Santa Rosa, with many restaurants and shops. The hotel is nicely designed with a welcoming lobby with fireplace, a firepit in the courtyard, and a helpful concierge and front desk staff. We stayed in a King room overlooking the firepit area. It had very high ceilings, beautiful furnishings, an exceptionally comfortable bed, and nicely appointed bathroom.

It rained the entire weekend we were there and so we were unable to take advantage of the pool area, but did spend a bit of time at the firepit, which was a nice feature. There are dozens of chairs around it, so I can easily see that on a nice evening, it would be the place to hang out.

As mentioned above, the concierge was very helpful. He was able to help guide us to specific wineries that fit what we were looking for, and even helped to route out our drive. He also gave us some very nice discount cards for use at most of the wineries - for things like free tastings, discounted tours, etc. (By the way, we also found that with our Visa Signature card, we could add to the benefits and double-dip.) One day we were there it was his day off, and the front desk staff was super helpful in tracking down materials and information for us.

Being next to Railroad Square was a nice benefit for mornings. One morning we ate at the Omlette Express (be ready for a line) and the other we went to the quaint A'Roma Roasters Coffee place. The concierge provided us a 10% off pass for everything in Railroad Square. It was nice to be able to simply walk across the street from the Hyatt to this historic district.

We chose Santa Rosa as our base to visit Sonoma County since it is essentially the middle of the county, allowing us to easily explore the various valleys which make up this region. One day we drove north, visiting Simi (great tour), Francis Ford Coppola (fun memorabilia) and other nearby wineries. The next day we went west, visiting Korbel and then the Redwoods and the coast (Bodega Bay). Our last day, on our way back to SF to fly home, we went south, visiting St Francis, Chateau St Jean, and Benziger, and spending some time in Sonoma's square.

Overall, the Hyatt was a great place to spend a long weekend visiting lovely Sonoma County!

Stayed here for 2 nights in early June 2011 and was overall pleased with the experience. I hesitated because there were some very negative reviews about this place but the location won me over in the end so we gave it a try and we were thanksful we did. Some thoughts below:

PROS
- Within very short walking distance to all the cute restaurants and wine bars in the adorable downtown Santa Rosa district
- Spacious rooms with nice fitouts and decor
- Price is reasonable in the mid-range for a hotel of this caliber

CONS
- Not a full service hotel (no bell hops for instance)
- Concierge had gone home already when we arrived at 3pm on a Monday (seemed strange to us)
- They charge separately for everything including internet ($10/day), breakfast (a la cart)
- No fridges or safes in the rooms
