“Very Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2012

Given the kudos on open table and urban spoon, my husband and I were expecting a wonderful meal. His appetizer, the beet salad, was fabulous. Mine was a butterfish sashimi and was tasteless.

Then we both ordered the halibut filet. Served with peas and carrots, it felt like something I would toss together at home when busy. No flavor and boring. Considering we had the same entree at Dry Creek Restaurant in Headsburg the following night, that was superb, Syrah better start being more inventive with their offerings to compete with the surrounding great restaurants.

Will not be visiting again!

“Things could be better”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

When in Santa Rosa we always stop at this lovely, easy-paced restaurant/bistro. Now called "Petite Syrah" the food is always delicious. But the service is THE BEST. THANK YOU LUIS! Actually, our server was a rather light-headed young lady in need of some basic appreciation of cooking, chefs, and wine. However, the duck was incredible and the Marimar Pinot we had was a superb ! Two points: the bead rolls could have been used as hockey pucks and secondly, their creations of smores left a great deal to be desired.........drop it off your Menu !

“I will come again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

I have been at this restaurant since they opened about 10 years ago and since they re-invented themselves as petite Syrah. I love the new small dishes theme, however this time we had two big dishes. We had the roasted beets salad with Horseradish Panna Cotta, it was wonderful, creamy and the perfect balance to the sweet beets, purely yummy! For the main course we had pan roasted Halibut that was perfectly cook and crusty on the outside while tender and juicy inside. The duck was also delicious with some great confit with some cooked cherries. I loved the dessert my wife not so much. It was S’mores modern style ☺.

“Or it is Petite Syrah Bistro?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

Pleasant little bistro that's been a favorite of ours during wine-tasting trips. They appear to be going through some changes, including their name and the size of their entrees. What hasn't changed are the excellent food, nice wine selection, casual atmosphere, attentive service and friendly wait staff. I would not recommend the New England dinner featured for July. The clams and mussels were very fishy and their broth overwhelmed the flavor of the lobster. We like sitting outside in the back area--a little quieter and more room. Overall one of our favorites, and we'll return.

“Yummy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2012

We went here on our 3rd night in Santa Rosa and it was the best meal we had during our trip. We were very impressed with our food. We felt the starter size portions were a bit large, and we had to force ourselves to finish it all, it was too good to leave it ;). Service was excellent. We didn't have to wait long for our wine glasses to be refilled and our food arrived very timely. My husband had the Hanger Steak and I had the Farro. Both dishes came out excellent. Mine was done in a risotto style and it was really yummy. I was really impressed. Yes we would go back and yes I would recommend. We were not disappointed in the least.
