I've stayed here about five times over the last six or seven years and every time I leave I swear to myself that I HAVE to come back for more. What a lovely experience. And the star house is a unique little building perched on a hill overlooking the rolling hills of Sonoma and is very private, the telescope is huge, they even have a library of astronomy/astrology books in it and a propane heater to make it toasty in the winter. And the owners are always so nice, but they leave you alone! This is a great place for two lovers to really get away, but be near to fine dining, SF, etc.

We had a wonderful weekend here. The place is so unique and cozy inside with the circular shaped room and deck looking out to the mountains. We enjoyed exploring the suspension bridge and loved making our meals inside our room. We also had a great time visiting nearby wineries. We did have a little trouble with the heater making a loud clicking sound during the night and the mattress was too soft. But those things would not keep us from a return visit someday!

My boyfriend and I spent a long weekend here celebrating my birthday and his recent taking of the CA Bar Exam. Clair de Lune is just amazing. The Mayacama Mountains are beautiful and staying on the top of the mountain in a beautiful cottage/yurt could not be better. The cottage itself is full of natural light and allows one to really feel like you are immersed in the wonderful surroundings. It’s magical. The owners have also built the Stargazer house, which is just a short hike from the cottage. The trail to the Stargazer is through the woods and on a suspension bridge over a running creek. We watched the most amazing sunset there…so romantic! Next time I want to go out at night and look at the stars through the provided telescope!

We explored the Sonoma wine country on our visit, but my favorite part was coming back to Clair de Lune with all of the goodies we purchased and staying in to cook dinner on the BBQ on our deck and just enjoying our time together on the mountain. We even joined a wine club and chose the “pick up” option so we would have to come back multiple times a year!

It was truly a romantic and relaxing time and we talk of it often. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in this area and can’t wait until we do it again! I would highly recommend Clair de Lune to anyone I know, from our friends to our parents.

This place was much more beautiful than the website led me to believe. We enjoyed bathing to the sound of the river, watching the sunset from the stargazer house and hiking around the property. While there is an excellent collection of DVDS, we didn't get to turn on the TV once. There's so much more to enjoy here that I'm heart broken we have to leave so soon. (I'm very glad we brought food with us: I'd have hated to waste time driving anywhere. )

We were madly in love with the stargazer house, and definitely plan to come back. Carolyn and Gary have done an incredible job of making it a sumptuous gorgeous and still simple place that highlights the beauty of the surroundings. It's not a sterile, typical wine country spa retreat, but I'll take the complete privacy, outdoor shower, huge bathtub with a view, and the feeling of care that went into this little place over one of those big, impersonal hotels anyday.
