This place was much more beautiful than the website led me to believe. We enjoyed bathing to the sound of the river, watching the sunset from the stargazer house and hiking around the property. While there is an excellent collection of DVDS, we didn't get to turn on the TV once. There's so much more to enjoy here that I'm heart broken we have to leave so soon. (I'm very glad we brought food with us: I'd have hated to waste time driving anywhere. )

We were madly in love with the stargazer house, and definitely plan to come back. Carolyn and Gary have done an incredible job of making it a sumptuous gorgeous and still simple place that highlights the beauty of the surroundings. It's not a sterile, typical wine country spa retreat, but I'll take the complete privacy, outdoor shower, huge bathtub with a view, and the feeling of care that went into this little place over one of those big, impersonal hotels anyday.

“peaceful and serene”

We had a beautiful and peaceful stay in this magical "tree house" like environment. The madrone floor in the cottage blended wonderfully with the surroundings outside. As lovers of all forms of hot water, we loved the outdoor shower, the deep tub indoors looking out to the treetops as well as the cliff side hot tub. What a magical getaway so close to the city. We hope to be there often.

Claire De Lune (as its delightful owners refer to their getaway destination), perched high aside a mountain, looks into pristine forest where wild turkey, deer and the occasional fox strolls. Uncomplicatedly elegant and serene, I enjoyed its modern design and close proximity to the best wine country has to offer. Its owners were gracious and I highly recommend this retreat cottage to anyone! Big thumbs up!

Beautiful location. Poor hospitality. Additional charges of $200 upon arrival. Even with a confirmation email from one of the owners stating that your stay is paid in full, I suggest confirming before arrival that the stay really is paid in full.

While the privacy and quiet were as represented, there is the feeling, amongst all the clutter and personal items, that you are staying in someone's bedroom/efficiency who has simply left for a few days. I.e., uncovered, open butter, half used bottles of condiments and toiletries, which is what is left for guests to use. That contributed to a small influx of ants, despite the low temperatures at night. Not sumptuous - as represented. The bathroom has no heat source and remained cold. The gas stove (the heat source), once it reached the desired temperature, popped off and on constantly (every couple of minutes) and loudly, which meant you had to get up every 3 hours and move the thermostat setting extremely up or down so that you could get another 3 hours sleep before it started again. Finally, we had only a trickle of water pressure on our last morning - at every source of water, inside and out, and could not shower.
Because they ask for personal checks and have a no refund policy, we have no recourse for this misrepresentation.
