The BBQ Spot is easy to miss as you motor north along Santa Rosa Avenue, just off the Todd Road exit and south of the central business district. It is located in a cinder block building, as all good BBQ places should be, adjacent to a tattoo parlor. In the case you wanted to memorialize your visit and show your allegiance to the great god BBQ, you might want to consider picking up a little ink while you wait for your brisket, pulled pork, ribs, or chicken. The place is crowded for lunch with labor-types who want something substantial before they get back to work. The brisket is served chopped on a soft roll, the better to absorb the mild BBQ sauce. But it is all about the meat, isn’t it? The meat is nicely smoked with a little of the bark thrown in. Quite good for the $9.95 price. It comes with your choice of sides—mine was some fresh cole slaw with a light mayo dressing. Good stopping point if you are in the neighborhood or on your way north.
