Description: Bistro 29 located in downtown Santa Rosa, Sonoma County. Bistro 29 is a traditional bistro specializing in “Breton” regional cuisine. The number 29 comes from the department of Finistère (end of the earth) located in the upper tip of north-west France. Known for the Galette de blé noir (traditional buckwheat crêpe) and sweet crêpes, Bretagne also uses a variety of local seafood and produce that can easily be found in and around northern California.

“great food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

Thanks to the other good reviews on Tripadvisor we chose to have dinner at Bistro 29 during our stay in Santa Rosa over the thanksgiving weekend.
We were not disappointed.
The Daube of beef was cooked perfectly resulting in a very rich flavour and the steak-frites was excellent. Naturally being a french restaurant desert must include crepes and the combination with fig was delicious.
the service (Sarah), ambience and decor was excellent.

“Simply delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2013

I normally shy away from French cuisine, but this restaurant has changed my way of thinking! From the start, this meal was divine. The ratatouille crepe was superb. The sautéed shrimp were cooked to perfection. The steak and frites brought me back to Paris. Our servers were outstanding, friendly, and made the experience memorable for me and my wife. We will come back here often!

“Excellent food in the center of Santa Rosa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

Visited this restaurant while visiting Santa Rosa vineyards. Small, cozy……excellent food. Really. For such a small place, it was surprising. Wonderful appetizers, entree and desserts. Possibly the best food on our 5-day trip to the wine country and San Francisco.

“Matched expectations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

Up scale service and menu, with quaint cozy atmosphere. The food was very good, French rustic as described. Portions were adequate and price again as expected, mid-to-high.

“Simply wonderful French in Santa Rosa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

We looked at all the reviews and booked this restaurant for a celebratory dinner after my bike ride. As we were leaving our hotel, the Concierge asked where we were going for dinner. When we told her Bistro 29, she smiled and said perfect; you'll love it.

Love it we did. Sarah was our wonderful waitress but the other staff were great too. The restaurant has an easy ( and quiet ) vibe. The menu has all the dishes you would expect in a good French bistro but with a Breton flair. Make sure you turn over your menu to see all the wonderful buckwheat crepes you can customize to your taste.

We had a superb meal, flawlessly presented and prepared. Everything tasted great. The recommended wines were perfect. Make sure you leave room for dessert as you will not want to miss it.

This is a must for our next visit to Santa Rosa but make sure you book as they were turning people away all evening.
