I recently visited the Glen Tavern and once again, the owners have restored it to its original glory...even after the fire that damaged a dozen rooms and the restaurant. The place looks amazing, you guys! Congrats!!

I could not enjoy my stay. First of all I get there and there is no one at the front desk for an hour. Then when we get to our room it is very dirty. There were stains on the carpet smudges on the walls and doors and you go to look out the window and you cant see out the windows becuse of all the dirt. So we wanted to get out of the room and go to the pool, guess what thats dirty too.The lobby is nice but thats about it. I could go on about this place but i think you get the point. About 7 minuites down the road it Filmore I am sure you can find a better Place there to stay and a much nicer town.
We had a lovely stay at this historic hotel during Railfest in Fillmore. The actual accomodations could have used a little updating, but that is part of the charm in staying at an old hotel. The restaurant, Avenue X, was excellent, with some of the best filet mignons we've ever had. They were very accomodating about packing our meal to go, when our tired toddler began to act up. Unfortunately, our plans to stay there the last weekend of April 2006 were tragically changed due to a fire they had in mid-April. The hotel is currently closed. We hope they can repair the damage asap, so we can stay there again!
The lobby is quite attractive and homey warm. However, there was a film crew shooting a low budget horror movie in the halls. The hallways were blocked with lights and camera crews. We had a fantastic dinner at Avenue X, the in-house restaurant. Afterwards, my group wanted to sit in the lobby to finish our drinks. The lobby was full of extras from the horror movie, with pizza boxes and beer cans strewn about. We left and went to bed.
The room was grandma-cozy, but the there was a plumbing problem and the sink didn't drain.
The room cost was cheap, but the movie crew was a big liability. It would have been nice if the horror movie extras, with their beer and pizza boxes could have been confined to a single area, rather than taking over the lobby.
Gorgeous lobby!!! We just wanted to fall on our knees as we walked in the lobby! You feel like you just walked into a different time zone. We had dinner at their restaurant Avenue X the food was just a wonderful experience. We felt as if we were in some hip New York restaurant. We could not believe we never even knew this place existed. We stayed in one of their romantic themed rooms it even had a heart shape jacuzzi. Needless to say my husband and I had best weekend in a long time. Even their housekeepers had this cute black uniforms with the white aprons and beautiful smiles. We even enjoyed the drive to get to the hotel because it is covered with acres of orange and lemon trees. We already booked another reservation in 2 months and will tell all our friends.
