My husband and I recently visited Santa Paula for a romantic weekend getaway. We had heard many good reviews about the Glen Tavern Inn and were excited to stay in this newly renovated historic hotel. We are always are looking for hotels that are off the beaten path and guess what this hotel is everything we hoped for and more. The curb appeal is amazing with beautiful gardens and soft lighted that invites the traveler to come in and take a step back in time. The lobby is beautifully decorated and the ambience is wonderful. We originally had booked a standard room, but mentioned we were on a romantic weekend getaway and were quickly upgraded to a suite.

The suite was very unexpected. The room was renovated in a manner than kept the original architecture, but added new world amenities, such as a huge travertine bathroom with dual head shower and Jacuzzi tub, a wet bar, and large sectional couch with flat screen TV. Overall, we highly recommend stepping off the beaten path and spending some quality time at this wonderful historic hotel!

My wife and I were in CA for a wedding. We just spent a few days in a boutique hotel in San Diego. The staff was polite and professional, but the chrome and glass ultra modern decor left us with a cold feeling and extras such as wi-fi,bottled water, and parking were a la cate.
The Glenn Tavern Inn has a warm and rich decor. Extras are included in the price. Our corner room was clean, comfortable, and quiet.
An elderly couple in our party arrived late, and needed a room on the first floor. The staff quickly located a room, even though the Inn was completely booked.
We fly Southwest. The desk clerk printed our boarding pass from the hotel computer.
Our stay at the Glenn Tavern Inn was the highlight of our trip.

Highly Recommended

Although the Glen Tavern Inn has been restored, it appears to still be very much the hotel that opened in Santa Paul nearly 100 years ago. The lobby and rooms are much improved from the hotel's days as a residential hotel not that many years ago, but there is no mistaking this hotel for a Marriot Courtyard. Instead, the hotel seems to have been restored much as it must have been in its heyday. The lobby is tasteful with spacious and comfortable seating areas. The hallways, stairways, appointments and decor thoughout the hotel are spartan and somewhat rough, and very much what I would expect to have seen 100 years ago. The only exception was the bathroom, where modern fixtures delivered a hot shower.

Our meal at the restaurant was beautifully presented and delicious. However, the crowd on a Saturday night overwhelmed the staff and the service was lacking.

We will definitely return to the Glen Tavern Inn.

Tiny bathroom, shower head at navel. Lobby and main entrance dirty. Not enough towels for three people. The hotel personnel were never available. If this is nice for Santa Paula- than I'll be staying out of town next time. i stayed here base on previous reviews- that must have been highly exagerated.

While looking for a new place in Southern California to hold our Ghost Hunters Conference, I was told to check out this hotel. When I first approached the hotel, it was much more attractive than I expected. It looked like a hotel that belonged in a wooded area than in a town and was beautiful. I checked in and had a million questions, "where to eat?", "where to find a store?", etc., etc. All questions were answered thoroughly and the clerks were wonderfully pleasant.

The hotel's ambience was wonderful, it was clean and quiet. I was able to check out many parts of this hotel without question. My room was gorgeous. Having stayed in many hotels, my room was comparable to many of the large chains albeit much more quiet and reasonably priced. I have decided to hold our conference in this hotel as I think this would be a great place for our attendees to experience paranormal phenomena (it even gives its' haunted history on their website) as I caught some EVP while there. What a wonderful place to spend some time in a small town. While one needs to drive to Ventura or LA, this necessity is a welcome one for me.
