Although the Glen Tavern Inn has been restored, it appears to still be very much the hotel that opened in Santa Paul nearly 100 years ago. The lobby and rooms are much improved from the hotel's days as a residential hotel not that many years ago, but there is no mistaking this hotel for a Marriot Courtyard. Instead, the hotel seems to have been restored much as it must have been in its heyday. The lobby is tasteful with spacious and comfortable seating areas. The hallways, stairways, appointments and decor thoughout the hotel are spartan and somewhat rough, and very much what I would expect to have seen 100 years ago. The only exception was the bathroom, where modern fixtures delivered a hot shower.
Our meal at the restaurant was beautifully presented and delicious. However, the crowd on a Saturday night overwhelmed the staff and the service was lacking.
We will definitely return to the Glen Tavern Inn.
