My husband and I wanted to stay at a B&B in historic Santa Paula for our 18th anniversary. The Santa Paula Inn B&B seemed nice from the website. But what we saw when we got there was a different story. It was not a charmingly decorated B&B but just an old run down hotel. The nice couple shown on the website was not there to greet us and tell us about the place, so we rang the bell and a not very friendly man came to give us a key and say "sign here".The plain room had a dirty carpet with a tear in it, a missing outlet cover and dirty plastic doily on one of the cheap pieces of furniture. The bathroom had missing tiles & peeling paint with one cheap picture on the wall with the cardboard back hanging out of it. The porcelain on the bathtub (which was advertised as a jacuzzi tub!)was so worn off that it made it look filthy.I looked for a glass in the cubbard and did find one dirty one along with a can of ant & roach spray (and yes, I saw 2 roaches that evening!) along with a glue trap for mice under the sink! There was no evening fire like they said there would be.No cookies, or wine & cheese. In fact The breakfast was already in the fridge when we got there...2 uncovered muffins,2 yogerts,2 oranges,2 juice boxes and 2 pieces of candy. It was the worst place I ever stayed in.When I checked out in the morning again nobody was there so I dropped the key in a hole marked "key drop" behind the glass counter.
