“Nice bakery, just off the 3rd St Promenade”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We came across Le Pain Quotidien walking around downtown Santa Monica, just off the 3rd Street Promenade. After looking at previous reviews and their website, maybe we arrived too late in the day (it was @6pm), because there was little selection of baked goods remaining. I would like to return when there's possible more to choose from.

“Just like home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Very much like the original in Brussels (our home town). The menu has been Americanized a little bit, but not too much. And the quality is still good. The decor is exactly the same as the Belgian original. If you like good old-fashioned (organic) bakery products this is the place to go.

“Great Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012 via mobile

We had breakfast here and really enjoyed it. I did not know it was a chain until I looked the restaurant up prior to writing this review. While I try to avoid chains, this breakfast was far from a chain feel. A nice, small restaurant inside with a large communal table and several private 2-4 person tables, with a French farmhouse style of brick walls, etc. Hot apple cider was very tasty, almost like it was freshly made. Breakfast quiche was some of the best we have had. Everything was fresh and I believe local and/or organic. We went there on a weekday and there was a decent crowd at 8 am, so I am sure they must fill up on the weekends. Definitely recommend for a reasonably priced and excellent tasting breakfast.

“Lacks consistent product quality - Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

Average food quality. Acceptable service. Foods do not taste as good as I expected. Dishes have seasoning issues. Coffee and croissants subpar. Good farm style interior decor but the cooking must be improved. It feels too much like a chain rather than a "chef/owner" French bakery. More attention to details is needed. Average overall.

“Great blend of full meals and something light or sweet...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

Enough variety on the menu to satisfy everyone in the group and comfortable enough to feel cozy when dining solo by choice. The restaurant associates are very amiable and hold it together even when they get overwhelmed with sudden volume. The small outdoor seating area is more interesting than the indoor setting but be aware of big city noises, etc.. Newer management has added some much needed polish and energy. I'm a local who wanders in about once a week after walking some blocks from my residence. They've come to know me which adds a nice warmth to my visits. Enjoy !
