I would agree that this hotel is no architectural wonder. It is pretty average looking. But everything else about our six day visit was extraordinary. I almost hate to mention it because I'm afraid I won't be able to book it on my next visit to LA. The bed was great, as were the linens. The personal service was attentive, friendly and always evident. Food was excellent, rooms very clean. Concierge was very helpful, although during the Christmas week it was evident that they were doing some staff shuffling and lacked a bit of personal experience with some of the recommendations. I WILL go back again.

Forget the fancy name, it's a Marriott, pure and simple from the standard bathroom to the poor service.
Patio heater? Sorry, not working. Tea making in room instead of coffee? Certainly, $5.60 for 2 teabags. Car park? Thank you, $28 a day. Sea view from balcony? No problem, just stand up.
I guess it's all about expectations, but anyone used to a degree of luxury when paying $450 a night will be sorely disappointed.

We were looking for a hotel near the beach with a pool for our 5-year-old grandson to swim in, and this filled the bill. The pool was normal country-club size, had no baby pool but he was fine with his tube. thre are nice tables and umbrellas around the pool so you can keep out of the shade if you like. The only problem was there was no waiter service at the pool for drinks - you had to walk up several flights of stairs to the restaurant/bar to place an order. Otherwise we were perfectly happy. The room was very nice, and although not directly on the beach it is just one block away. We rented bikes and a trike and went riding along the beach on the walkway there. The sand is excellent sand. Not so hot in May that we wanted to go in the ocen, though.

I was a little weary after reading some of the reviews in here but from the time we arrived until we left we were pampered beyond belief!! We stayed free all week through Marriott rewards but you would never know from the service we received. Everything about the hotel was wonderful, from the rooms to the view to the food at the restaurant!!! Would ABSOLUTELY stay here again!!!
