I read some of the reviews here before going to this hotel and I must say I was very disappointed. The hotel itself looks very dated.
The rooms need serious renovating. Everything looks old and worn.The beds however were very comfortable. For a hotel so close to the beach, they hardly have any rooms with ocean views. No ocean views from the lobby or pool or restaurant. Could hardly tell we were in a beach town.
Don't bother eating breakfast at this hotel. It is very over priced and the service is just awful. We found a lovely coffee shop next door (called Cora's) which was much better.

Based on Tripadvisor comments, we stayed at Le Merigot, next door to Loew's. I don't get it. While Le Merigot was perfectly acceptable, for only a very few dollars more, we could have stayed at Loew's, which seems FAR nicer. For one, Merigot doesn't have a view of the water from any public area, unlike the Loew's which has fabulous views from the lobby and the pool. The public areas themselves are also much nicer. I checked out a room (for our next stay!), and the rooms seem comparable, except Loew's offers balconies and double sinks.

This is a really very good hotel in a really very good location. Whilst not on the beach, it is only a small road away from the ocean and our room had an ocean view.

The staff were very helpful and the spa was excellent, as was the outdoor pool.

We spent two nights here and were delighted with the comfortable beds, reasonably sized room and extremely comfortable feel to the hotel.

I would certainly return to Le Merigot.

Service was excellent from the moment we arrived. Staff continually asked how we were and whether there was anything they could do for us. We were very impressed by how large and quiet our room was, with a view of the pool and ocean. Location was excellent for walking to restaurants and on the beach, or for driving to LA attractions.
