Well, I have to be honest, we stayed in 13 hotels during our trip and this was actually one of our favourites. We stayed as a family of 4, for 2 nights, costing a total of $332.60 all in.
Firstly, I must comment on the very friendly and welcoming staff that greeted us! Both the lady & gentleman were cheerful and answered all our questions & gave us advice regarding activities and local transport.
Our room was on the first floor of the second block...219, a 2 queen bed with free breakfast! It was located toward the rear of the second building and reached by outside stairs. We had no problem with parking. Anyhow, we were pleased when we opened the door...décor was very nice, it was clean, the kitchenette area was large enough for us and included a small table and 2 chairs, microwave, fridge, sink, coffee maker, ironing board etc and a assortment of compliments and our bathroom was clean including a hairdryer and just to our needs, again with compliments. It was very reassuring to have a safe in the room too! We used the free Wi-Fi only on a couple of occasions, which was sufficient and causing no problems.
The only thing we found was the Air-con blew straight up the curtain, blowing it into the room. Therefore, we had to rest a book against it, to stop the light coming in. Even so, we slept like logs!!!
Breakfast was fantastic! It was very crowded, with seating indoors as well as out. Awaiting customers were not helped to proceed in getting food by those who'd already eaten. Going up for seconds and sometimes thirds whilst ensuring someone in their party stayed at the table to ensure their seats, seemed inconsiderate to others!
The choice of food & drink was unbelievable...too much to list. Certainly the best we'd found out of all the hotels we stayed in! Food was constantly being topped up and the area cleaned by a lovely lady.
We didn't use the courtyard or Laundromat, but if we stayed longer, I feel sure we would of, especially the Laundromat with teenage boys!
We liked the location...a 2.8 miles from Santa Monica Pier. We could walk this, but decided to take the Big Blue Bus 001, located across the street costing $1.000 each and The BBB Rapid 7 return at $2.00 each. Visiting other places, we took the car.
