The hotel is just okay meaning for the price you don't get a lot. I'm thinking they don't feel they need to because of the location. The most disappointing aspect is the thinness of the windows looking over PCH. Vehicles going by all night long and you hear them (we were on the 5th floor). The room, single King sized bed, was nice and the bathroom was clean and spacious enough. Love the shower head just so you know! It's all about location for this expensive hotel, a couple of blocks to the Promenade and the pier. But, as I said the traffic is non-stop and you notice.

Room Tip: Pick a room over the street and away from the highway even if you're told it's quiet above t...

Just back from a 2 night stop over on our way back from Canada to Australia. The hotel is in a great location for the pier and shops/restaurants. The room itself was great, comfy beds, clean and good bathroom. The air conditioner is noisy! Really noisy! I called the front desk about it and they sent up a maintenance man who said that all the air conditioners were noisy and he switched it to manual instead of the wall control which made a slight improvement. The noise did interfere with sleep and for this reason I would hesitate to stay again. Also, I had requested a late check out at the time of booking and also asked about this on check in. We were told that there should be no problem with the late check out. Asked again the next day and was told to ask again on the day of check out. Asked again at 10.00am on the day of check out and was told that all late check outs had been allocated for that day. After some discussion we were granted an extra hour (until 12 midday). A bit frustrating given we had a late departure. If you are wanting a late checkout I would suggest to get down early to the desk to sort this on your departure day. Overall a good stay in spite of the air con and late check out issues.

Room Tip: Don't get room 410 with noisy air con!

I do not like leaving a negative review, but I must be impartial so here goes. We had a brief stay here but I left never wanting to return. As with all Santa Monica hotels, the rates are at a premium. I am ok with that considering the location. This hotel has a great location. It is separated from the pier by only Ocean Blvd, so it is an easy walk there, as well as to many other areas in town. However, the hotel feels tired and dated inside. Our room had a peculiar smell to it and the furniture was clearly old and worn. Our partial oceanview room had only a miniscule glimpse of the water and you had to strain your neck to see it. The window was dirty anyway, so everything had a brown hue to it. The noisy highway below was very noticeable. For the price paid, I would expect an in-room refrigerator and microwave as one would find in many lower end chains. The staff we encountered were all either indifferent or downright rude. At one point I had an unfortunate exchange with the manager who came across as aggressive to his guests. So it seems that customer service is not a priority with this location. I don't wish to share the specifics online but it was enough to drive me away from Wyndham altogether. I won't be returning to this hotel, but nevertheless enjoyed beautiful Santa Monica and will happily return and stay elsewhere.

The location was great! It is a 2 second walk to the pier and beach. Close to shops, bars and restaurants. The room was big, very comfortable bed and nice decor. The staff were lovely and very helpful. I would definitely stay there again

Just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel and I enjoyed every minute. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean and the rooms were comfortable especially the lovely soft bed. I have to say in this 16 night trip to the US I have not had a bad nights sleep. The main selling point is of course the location, it's moments from Santa Monica Pier & Beach, and 5 minutes from third street promenade. There is a guest laundry on the 4th floor so you don't have to bring a suitcase of washing home with you, which is always a plus for me. We had the free breakfast option it was a $20 voucher off the a la carte during the week and a buffet at the weekend both were very nice. The pool was clean and cool after a busy day however not a great location through the garage, I spoke to the manager and he said the hotels about to undergo a million dollar renovation that will change that with direct access to the pool from inside as well as lots of other exciting changes. There is no option to self park so for me valet was the only choice as I wanted my car on site $30 per night was the fee and this seems about average for this area. On the whole a very relaxing end to a great west coast trip, will return for sure.

After travelling all of south east asia and not experiencing any troubles, we come to the wyndham and had an awful experience. In fact i am writing this review whilst in bed at the wyndham waiting 15 minutes for a knife and fork to eat. One night i went to the vending machine and the machine took the money without giving the goods. Upon calling the front desk the incredibly rude staff told me it was only a dollar and theres no technician so what would i like them to do. This hotel is just awful. When i stay at hotels i expect service not just a room. So stay here if you want to spend money on an over priced room with no service!
