I have to admit I have NEVER received such horrible service before! My friend and I actually checked out and stayed at the Travelodge instead because we were so disgusted with the service we recieved. Here's what happened: my friend and I checked into a non-smoking room, which turned out to be a smoking room. It just reeked of cigarettes!! I called down to the front desk and the guy working there put me on hold in the middle of my sentence! i was little miffed but stayed on the line. He came back a few minutes later and said we had a non-smoking room- i told him that there were ASHTRAYS in the room and that it stunk. He told me that he was too busy with other customers and hung up!!! I was so shocked- we had JUST checked in a few minutes ago and there was nobody downstairs. We went downstairs and I asked to speak to the manager- he said he was the manager. I told him that i did not appreciate his behaviour and he really did not care. I asked another employee if he was the manager and he FREAKED out and started swearing at me! Unreal... my friend and I were both shocked beyond belief. At that point, i told him that I was going to call his head office and his head almost exploded. We seriously thought he was going to get violent. We left, went to the COmfort Inn down the road. They did not have any rooms and told us that they had TONS of customers leave the Days Inn due to the horrible service. He called the Travelodge and booked us a room. We immediately want back to the Days Inn, got our money refunded and left for the Travelodge. In all my years of travelling, I've never recieved this type of service- I usually dont' do stuff like this, but the public needs to know!! Do NOT stay here- I will be calling the head office to lodge an official complaint. Thanks for reading!!

We were in the Santa Monica area visiting our son and his financee for the purpose of meeting his future in-laws.

We chose the Days Inn for it's location & it's price. We have no complaints about this; however, our room & the motel amenities were not acceptable. We could have been in a Motel 6 for that matter.

The room was very small with pidgeons outside our window. The hotel cleverly put up spikes to ward off the pidgeons on the outside ledge. They however, just found another location to rest.

The air-conditioner was noisy. The television picked up only 5 channels even though the amenities stated satalite tv.

There was an open closet for clothes underneath of which was a broken bathroom scale. The wallpaper was beginning to come off the wall. The ceiling had huge water stains.

As for their gym, it consisted of 4 stationary exercise equipment pieces siituated to the left of the elevator, off from the hallway. Certainly, not what we expected. Furthermore, if anyone were to use this equipment, they would have been right outside our door.

The bathroom, although it did appear renovated, lacked absorbant towels and wash clothes. The glasses were plastic.

Needless to say, we were glad we didn't have to spend too much time in our closet, and perhaps next time we will give up location for comfort and better amenities.

This was the only hotel with an available room for under $200 that we could find in the Santa Monica area. After reading all the reviews, we were very afraid. It was better than we expected. Fairly clean, non-smoking room and free parking. Place didn't smell. Continental breakfast was marginal but not less than we expected. Service was ok. All we did was sleep there. I would stay there again in a pinch.

After searching online for nice reasonably priced hotel in Santa Monica for a Labor Day weekend getaway, my companion and I chose this one. Mixed reviews on different sites, some of which concerned me, but overall happy with our choice. AAA discount came in handy. Good location, quiet, FREE PARKING (a biggie for me when traveling near L.A. area). Our room was decently spacious, clean, with a big bathroom and plenty of counter space, good water pressure and ample amount of clean towels. My companion complained of the uncomfortable bed and the pillows were pretty flat; we asked for fluffier ones and they arrived within 5 minutes. Continental breakfast was adequate. Dined out in some of the many fabulous restaurants nearby, sightseeing on the Promenade and the Santa Monica Pier. I agree with the comments of some the not-so-friendly front desk staff, however. Check-in person was very mechanical, barely looked at us; not mean or rude, just didn't seem very welcoming; did not smile at all, or say thank you for staying, or have any suggestions for anything (maybe he was mad that he had to work a holiday weekend?). Morning staff we had contact with and the check-out person were very attentive, cordial, asked how we enjoyed our stay and to come again. All in all, yes, I would stay here again.
