I booked a reservation at the hotel because it was the least expensive. I didn't know what to expect but found myself in a very safe neighbourhood. The staff at the hotel was excellent, they gave adive on tours, gave me directions to places I wanted to see, and were overall very helpful. There was fresh juice, tea and pastries for breakfast each morning. The room itself was very clean and modern. The hotel is an architectural gem in and of itself, a very art and deco style building. It fits in perfectly with the aura of the city and you truly feel as though you are in the LA of dreams and fantasies. Sure, its not the Beverly Wilshire, but its very satisfactory. Any complaint is obviously just nitpicking. I plan on visiting again later this year and will stay there again!

I booked a room at the hotel web site for a business trip to the Los Angeles area. My company was exhibiting at a book fair. I e-mailed the manager and asked if I could ship some boxes ahead of my arrival.
He e-mailed back and said sure, no problem, put your name and confirmation number on the boxes. When I arrived, however, the manager denied any knowledge of this and slapped a $100 "storage fee"
onto my bill. He continued to lie by saying that his partner had previously talked to me on the phone to tell me there would be a storage fee. Since I had spoken to no one at the hotel and had only communicated in e-mail prior to my arrival, this was a total fabrication. He suddenly reduced the fee to $50 and held my property hostage, until I agreed to pay it. But when I went to sign the credit
card authorization, the $100 fee was still in place. He said don't worry, this is just a "pre-authorization" and the correct bill would be computed when I checked out. Having already just learned firsthand
that he couldn't be trusted, I wouldn't sign it, and he grudgingly made out a new slip. When my credit card bill arrives, however, I'll still have to block the transaction and have it reduced by $50. Luckily I have the reservation and all the e-mail correspondence so I'll be able to prove I was overcharged. With regard to the hotel itself, the rest of my stay thankfully proved uneventful. The room was OK and clean. There was quite a bit of noise with people in the hallway and children thumping around in the room next door, but they settled down at night and I slept well. As other reviews have noted, the breakfast is a joke...a coffee urn and some gooey pastries on a plate. There is an indoor parking garage underground, but the spaces and roadways are much too small, and I ended up parking on the street after the first day.

This motel earned its low rating. While it did not look too bad and was not too far ( 2 miles ) from the beach. It just seemed to be beyond its prime. The "Free Daybreak Breakfast" was not a breakfast. The danishes were horrible and the coffee wet. It was more worth skipping than starting your day with that kind of breakfast. Even the toast was missing something. The roof sundeck was ok. Although the room was not dirty, it seemed shabby. The underground parking area was clean and seemed well protected with CCTV quite visible. If I can avoid it I will try another place. The price was THE attraction. Without a car stay at one of the places closer to the beach.

Good locatioon, clean room & free breakfast. Didn't spend too much time in the room, as we did a lot of sightseeing. Great value, and would stay there again.
