How can i start....everything was wonderful.

Firstly check-in took minutes, and was very stress free. Our room was ready, so that was a plus point as we had been driving from Las Vegas and were very tired.
We were shown to our room, and we were not disappointed.
The rooms were very modern and classy.
And the Beds...... they were the best beds i have ever slept on, with the most lovelist sheets. The room service was very good, and very quick.
The roof top restaurant was amazing. The food was wonderful, and the view was beautiful. You could see all over santa monice, and can even see Beverly Hills in the distance.
The one thing that i didnt really like, was the bathroom. They were very very small. And the shower was a tad too powerful. It would have been a mistake to put your foot on the plug hole, as it would flood the room in minutes!
I'm not sure if the bums/tramps were part of the Santa monica charm, but to me they were rather intimidating.

Overall it was a wonderful hotel, and we would definately be back.

  • Liked — The beds!!!!
  • Disliked — the small bathroom, and the bums in santa monica

We stayed at the Huntley for a week at the beginning of October. From our arrival the staff were friendly and attentative and always made us feel welcome.

The hotel was immaculate, so clean. I read in reviews that people felt it looked dated...not the case in my opinion.

Our room was great. We had a Premier Ocean View room. (Ocean view being from the side) Really comfy bed with great fluffy pillows, the Widescreen TV was a bonus. Minibar offered a wide selection of snacks and drinks perfect for those little emergency hunger pangs (though with usual inflated costs!) Our room was cleaned daily, sometimes twice! (couldn't quite understand that though) The bathroom was great with a wonderful power shower and we didn't ever experience any of the noise i read about in other reviews.

The breakfasts were a delight. Really delicious with stunning views over LA and the sea. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and gave a great ambiance. Evenings the restaurant really came alive and although we didnt eat there, the food looked lovely. Weekends seemed a bit pretentious though. A few too many "wannabe's" and "it" people, so we avoided it.

My only slight (and i say slight) annoyance was that for 5 out of the 7 days, one of the elevators was out of action. They blamed it on the motor which had apparently burnt out however i felt in a hotel of this size and reputation, they should have been able to fix it with more haste (Even as we left for the airport they still hadn't sent anyone round to look at it) This caused lengthy queues for the lifts with long long waits to get to the restaurant, lobby or rooms.

That being said, we had a fantastic time and the hotel was just so convenient for everything in Santa Monica as well as just a $35 cab ride into Beverly Hills and Sunset Boulevard.

We would definitely stay there again and i can recommend it for a chilled out holiday to LA.

  • Liked — Room, cleanliness and food
  • Disliked — Elevator seems to be out of use ALOT

We stayed here for four nights in Sept. We booked a Premier Ocean View Room which was excellent and very comfortable. Beds really comfy (just what you need after a long flight), bathroom was spacious and very clean. Only issue which marred the room was that on the last day our air con started a very small leak (but which was fixed by the hotel quickly).

Restaurant is great, good food, great views, found staff to be helpful and polite, as were the staff on reception. As others have pointed out, there are queues which form on a Fri and Sat evening for the lifts, but the door staff let guests go to the front of the queue. One lift was out of action for the time that we were there - also a common theme in previous reviews.

There is also a small shop on the ground floor if you want to grab a cup of tea to take back to your room etc. In addition, there is a nice outdoor seating area. In short, we would happily stay there again!

  • Liked — Comfy beds and location
  • Disliked — Having to wait for lifts

We just spent four nights at the Huntley. We were very impressed with the room. It was just like the photos from the website. A nice big and bright room. It was especially clean, they actually clean twice a day.

We had no problem with the hotel staff, found them to be quite friendly. Although the staff in the restaurant were not and the food was overpriced. Lovely views though.

Also one of the two elevators was broken for our entire stay. Very poor.

On the whole we'd go back in flash.

We stayed 8 nights at the Huntley Hotel in a Premier Ocean View double room. The room was large, very clean and beds perfect. the bathroom was very small but the shower great. Two complaints - the elevators - only two and one was broken for 7 days!! Amazing as I had read about this in other reviews of the hotel. The Huntley is a good hotel and the best bit is watching the crazy wanna bees queue for the elevator to the Penthouse bar. The bar is cute but I've seen better in Edinburgh or Glasgow . It is so overrated and the staff are incredibly unfriendly ! The Valet Parking is also too dear - $28 but you can find cheaper public parking up the block.
