We stayed here the last night of a 3 week trip -wanted something special so requested a sea view room. Was given the sea view on the 2nd floor and yes the views are great, but the room was TINY - once our 2 suitcases were in the room there was absolutely no floor space. The decor in the rooms in quite nice but the hall ways and lobby area are closer to a 2 star standard - they call it "historic" - that’s hotel speak for icky and shabby.

Everything was going fine however until we tried to go asleep - the noise from the street was UNBELIEVABLE.
-Buses that sound like they are powered by Jet engines thunder up to the stop right outside the hotel every 30 seconds throughout the entire night. Then there’s the homeless people fighting and drunks singing pretty much the entire night right outside your window.

At 4am I considered getting dressed and changing room - but with less than four hours til I checked out to catch my flight I didn’t really see the point. I stuffed cotton wool in my ears and put TWO pillows over the side of my head but STILL I could hear the noise from the street. At about 5am, knowing I had to get up in three hours, out of sheer desperation I tried to sleep on the floor in the bathroom (with cotton wool in my ears and a pillow over my head - still it was too noisy to sleep!!!!) (I know how crazy that last part sounds but I was deliriously tired!)
At this point (5.30 am) I just gave up trying to sleep and put on the TV!

The real killer is they charge MORE for the ocean view - When I complained about the noise the next day the (pretty indifferent) receptionist told me they were aware of the problem but that most of their guests were "business people who stayed regularly and therefore knew not to take the ocean front rooms"!!!!
So they charge EXTRA (which implies the rooms are better) for tiny rooms where they and their 'regular' guests know there is no chance of you being able to get any sleep, and knowing its the unaware tourists who will continue to book them!!!!! - Then they admit this to guests! What a joke!

As I had pre-paid with hotels.com she refused to give me a refund. And the parking is the biggest rip off - by the time they include tax it’s around $26 per day, the most expensive I’ve ever come across!

Forget about this place - there are plenty of other places to stay in Santa Monica

The Georgian is a tidy, art-deco hotel right on the ocean in beautiful Santa Monica. Highlights included large, bright rooms & bathrooms, a wide veranda restaurant/bar, free wireless, ocean views, and proximity to both the beach and the touristy 3rd street promenade. The hotel is decorated in bright colors and the whole property is airy and sunny. My only minor complaints were related to service; specifically, the front desk staff seemed undertrained and ill equipped to deal with service issues. For example, the housekeeper threw away about $40 worth of my toiletries (which were still in the plastic cvs bag). Rather than simply offering me a credit, the front desk said they'd "let me know if it turns up". A couple weeks later, and still no word, or offer of a credit.

Staying at this hotel was an absolutely delightful experience. I have never seen a staff (the entire staff) go so much out of its way to be cheerful, friendly and accomodating. The room was great, the food was great, the ambience was great & even though I have no plans to go back to Santa Monica in the near future, I'm looking for an excuse, so I can stay at the Georgian again.

Stayed at the Georgian Hotel in an Ocean View suite. View was fantastic & location is excellent there were shops & Restaurants (and the pier) within walking distance.

Room:
Large Bathroom with double vanity, with Aveda amenities (bathroom was very large & clean but perhaps a bit tired)
Bed was comfortable.
Seperate sitting room area was nice & had great views of the ocean.
Room was quiet.
Tea & coffeemaking facilities within the room
Housekeeping did a good job.

Facilities:
Lift was OLD & creaky - and SLOW - but hey its better than lugging cases up the stairs!!.
Verandah was nice but small - seats got taken quickly & it was usually hard to get a seat.
The decor style is art deco & makes a nice change from the many cookie cutter hotels in the US

Staff:
The person working the front desk looked like a smile might cost her a million $'s - she was not rude just unfriendly but checked us in with no problem.
There is no parking bay/garage to pull into for valet parking & it did sometimes get a bit backed up with cars lining up outside the hotel whilst we were there but the staff were quick at getting your car & were also very friendly.

We stayed at this hotel for a family gathering, using two rooms. Our oceanfront room was surprisingly small, clean but not remarkable. Our oceanfront suite was large, with a spacious bedroom, bath and living room. The hotel location can not be beat, close to the boardwalk, beach and shopping. However, we will not return to this hotel. The desk staff confused our reservations and seemed to us very rude. This seems like an amateur operation. If you are guided by the other reviews of the Georgian and choose to stay here, definitely upgrade to the suite room.
