This was our second visit to the Georgian, our first being 18 months ago. Highly recommend staying at this fabulous hotel, excellent staff, excellent location an all round superb experience. On both occasions we have had a suite, the first was an Ocean view on the right hand side (as your face the hotel) on the 6th floor and the second a city view suite (right hand side) on the 8th floor, although this was advertised as a city view in fact we had dual aspects which gave us a superb view of the beach as well. Decor and history of this hotel sets it apart from the mass of other hotels in the city.
The Georgian affords easy access to local shops, third street promenade is just around the corner, and there is an excellent farmers market close by.
Santa Monica pier is a couple of blocks down the street and access to the beach is via a handy walk way.
Also recommend the Ocean Avenue Seafood restaurant with handy location next door to the Georgian.
A little further afield visit the excellent Warner brothers studio tour (a real studio tour as opposed to Universal studios which is more of a theme park).

The staff seemed nice, but that's just about what was nice in this hotel. The room was ok, but sooo small and the bathroom couldnt hold any toiletries!! Not only that, but it just looked run down even though they say they renovated the carpet... remember, thats JUST the carpets! Everything else is run down, they have only 1 elevator that is sooooo slow and ugly (maybe i just don't appreciate the boutique thing) but really, in a hotel, at least have 2 elevators! and fast ones might i add! I had booked a stay here for 10 days and ended up leaving after the 1st night. I had NO sleep whatsoever!! You heard your neighbors and the elevators and people in the hall... you name it you heard it! My mother and I had to leave because we just couldn't take how many things were going on. Not only that, but to make matters worse, I absolutely needed the internet while i was there and thier internet was So HORRIBLE. You could not connect all the time and it would disconnect after a minute when you finally got it connected! It was just run down and a horrible experiance and I would DEFINTELY NOT reccomend this hotel AT ALL!! Stay Away!! FAR FAR AWAY! I reccommend staying at the Doubletree Suites in Santa Monica which is just 4 blocks from the beach and it may be $30 more a night but lemme tell you how much more worth that $30 a night is! At least you can sleep and isn't that what a hotel room is for in the first place?

We stayed at the Georgian for our wedding in Malibu, and used it as one of the recommended hotels for our guests. We loved it. From what we could tell, our guests did as well. The hotel is in a great location; the service was wonderful; and the rooms were lovely. We had a city view suite -- which was extremely spacious. We were treated very well, and we would definitely return.

We recently visited the US with our 3 children and son in law (ages 18 to 28) and unfortunately encounted the rudest staff practicially everywhere we stayed with the exception of The Georgian. The staff were very friendly and most obiliging. We had both a room and a suite and found both to be tastefully decorated, the hotel was in a great location to base a holiday.

  • Liked — Large clean suites, friendly staff

This charming hotel is a gem right on Ocean Blvd. in Santa Monica. Our family of 4 (parents and two teens, ages 16 and 19) absolutely loved our 4 day/3 night stay at the Georgian. We appreciated the quick and courteous service by all staff. The valet was swift and always attentive, the front desk so friendly and helpful with general information, and the servers accomodating. It is an historic hotel of a smaller scale, completely refurbished to a polished level. The art deco elements are well-preserved and there is a lovely display of photographs in the lobby area that tell a story of earlier years of the hotel and surrounding area. The location is superb, as you can walk directly to the beach and Santa Monica pier, or you can walk a couple of blocks in the other direction to the promenade shopping. We were able to visit a number of LA sights quite easily from here, including Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive. We also enjoyed strolling the promenade, listening to the street musicians and doing a little more moderate scale shopping (e.g., at Macy's). With the heat wave, however, we mostly toured the beaches and enjoyed cooling off on the hotel veranda, a most unique feature! As some travelers have noted, yes there are homeless folks in the parks and public areas near this hotel. This is not different from many major cities, unfortunately. There is no special danger in this, other than one's own emotional discomfort with seeing this sort of vulnerability up close. The vast majority of folks on the streets are other tourists and families enjoying the sights. The Georgian is a fantastic place to stay in LA if you want a charming hotel with a more intimate atmosphere and easy access to the beaches.
