This charming hotel is a gem right on Ocean Blvd. in Santa Monica. Our family of 4 (parents and two teens, ages 16 and 19) absolutely loved our 4 day/3 night stay at the Georgian. We appreciated the quick and courteous service by all staff. The valet was swift and always attentive, the front desk so friendly and helpful with general information, and the servers accomodating. It is an historic hotel of a smaller scale, completely refurbished to a polished level. The art deco elements are well-preserved and there is a lovely display of photographs in the lobby area that tell a story of earlier years of the hotel and surrounding area. The location is superb, as you can walk directly to the beach and Santa Monica pier, or you can walk a couple of blocks in the other direction to the promenade shopping. We were able to visit a number of LA sights quite easily from here, including Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive. We also enjoyed strolling the promenade, listening to the street musicians and doing a little more moderate scale shopping (e.g., at Macy's). With the heat wave, however, we mostly toured the beaches and enjoyed cooling off on the hotel veranda, a most unique feature! As some travelers have noted, yes there are homeless folks in the parks and public areas near this hotel. This is not different from many major cities, unfortunately. There is no special danger in this, other than one's own emotional discomfort with seeing this sort of vulnerability up close. The vast majority of folks on the streets are other tourists and families enjoying the sights. The Georgian is a fantastic place to stay in LA if you want a charming hotel with a more intimate atmosphere and easy access to the beaches.

LA was the final leg of our trip having stayed at several cities in America and Canada and I am pleased to say we saved the best till last. What a wonderful surprise on check -in to have been upgraded to a sea view suite on the top floor. The decor and view were fantastic. We found all the staff to be extremely friendly and genuinely interested in enusring you have a great time. There is a lovely veranda at the front of the hotel where you can enjoy drinks and meals. The french toast souffle with fresh fruit at breakfast was delicious! The location is great, only 2 block from the main shopping street and is surrounded by lovely restaurants. What a refreshing change from the service you receive at some chain hotels. We would definitely stay here again.

This is going to be a very simple review. After staying a couple of nights at the very expensive and very anonymous Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas, it was a delight to arrive at The Georgian.

It was all we imagined: traditional, tasteful, quiet, slightly jaded around the edges and all in all, a delightful experience.

The porters were fab: very efficient, very fast, very friendly and very keen to help. The receptionists, I'll be honest, were less friendly initially but after a couple of days soon warmed up.

Our city view room was large, spacious, bags of rooms and very very quiet. The city view was actually a view of a brick wall - not particularly attractive to put it mildly. However, it didn't really matter because the room was quiet and although the rooms on the front overlooking the sea obviously have great views, something tells me that they could be very noisy!

Sitting on the verandah at the front of the hotel was lovely - we were fortunate enough to arrive on the manager's welcome night (Wednesday) so caught the tail end of free glasses of rose wine and canapes. It was very pleasant sitting watching the world go by.

The hotel is in a very good position - OK, so it's raised up above the beach and isn't right on it like other hotels but it is on a delightful road (albeit a bit busy) and is very near the shops (just around the corner). Parking is round the back of the hotel and the concierge/porters do this for you - it's a bit expensive but hell, you're in LA. We actually hired cycles and after 8 hours cycling were glad to return to our glass of wine - wonderful way to see LA though.

The hotel too is pretty expensive but compared to the others we saw, I think, worth it.

Have a good stay!

We absolutely loved The Georgian. The staff was great, we arrived early and they let us check in early. The valet is great and very helpful with directions! Just a great place, the other reviews sum it up, the only downside is that the elevator is a little slow, but the place is old and that is just part of it's charm. Great location, we got a room with a remodeled bathroom and it was gorgeous!

We loved the Georgian!!!!. We are a family that appreciates the preservation of history and
the Georgian has done it. They are on the last leg of their restoration replacing carpets.
What a great boutique hotel. They staff couldn't have been friendlier and more accomodating. I don't think we waited more than 3 minutes for them to bring our car around. The valet staff is excellent. The breakfast and lunch are quite good also. We enjoyed sitting on the veranda having drinks and just soaking up the atmosphere. It is a great location. Within walking distance to the Promenade and Santa Monica Pier. also close to Santa Monica Freeway and Pacific Coast Highway. While your there do drive up to Mailbu. Watch the surfers along the way and go through the Pepperdine Campus if you can the views are magnificent. Stop at the Malibu Inn Roadhouse for a bite to eat. You will be pleasantly surprised. Also Go to the Getty Museum another wonderful bit of culture with breathtaking views. Rent Bikes and ride down to Venice beach. Thanks to the Georgian for making our stay very pleasant.
