We selected The Georgian based on the reviews here on TripAdvisor, and because the hotel seemed to be one of the better values in the Santa Monica area. We tend to like smaller, quirkier boutique hotels when we travel. We were not disappointed.

The only glitch in our stay occurred during the check-in process. We arrived before the 3 pm check-in time, and our room was not ready. We were told to return at 3. That was fine-- we spent some time walking around town and came back a bit after 3. Our room still was not ready. The desk clerk estimated another 30 minutes or so. We told her this wasn't acceptable, as we had to shower and leave for an early evening appointment. She made a few calls and said that they would rush the cleaning of our room, and it would be about 10 minutes. 20 minutes later, we were in our room, and they had given us a coupon for a free drink on the veranda to compensate us for the late check-in. All was forgiven.

The room itself was not huge, but larger than expected for an older hotel. Nice art deco design, immaculate bathroom stocked with Aveda products. Great view of Malibu, too. We booked the bed & breakfast package, which included parking and a full breakfast on the veranda each morning. It was great sitting outside and watching the world go by each morning, and coming back for a nightcap in the evenings. The hotel is very well located, a short walk to the pier, shopping and other points of interest. Service, while not always the most competent, was friendly. They tried hard to please.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay immensely, and would return to The Georgian when in the area. We found the place extremely charming, and a great alternative to generic, chain hotels.

Stayed at the Georgian for three nights on a recent trip up the coast of California. The location is superb, the veranda for breakfast, overlooking the ocean is a memorable way to start each day. Our room, a standard, was comfy, with the cleanest bathroom I've almost ever seen! Nice Aveda products.
It was also interesting to read about the history of the hotel and to note how lovingly it has been refurbished. Loved it!

We have just returned from 7 nights at this hotel and loved it! Staff were helpful and friendly and had no problems whatsoever. The rooms were clean and the beds the most comfortable we have ever slept in whilst away. The terrace is great to return 'home' to after exploring during the day and you can watch the sun go down over the sea as well as people watch. Just round the corner is 3rd St promenade which is great for evening meals and shopping. There are also street entertainers which adds to the lively atmosphere. Walk to the end of 3rd St Promenade and turn right to find a restaurant called P. F. Changs. The food, surroundings and price are amazing here. For breakfast, if you choose not to eat at the hotel, go to Broadway deli (left out the hotel, left again and keep going until you see it on the left). If you are sight seeing without a car as we were, the bus service is frequent and very convenient. Go see the lovely ladies across the road from the hotel at the tourist info centre and they will fill you in on what you need to see and how to get there. Bus stops are just along from the hotel and you will see every type of person on them!!! Be warned, they only have 2 speeds. Stationary and foot to the boards, the roads are not terrific (earthquakes) and your bottom will feel every bump. The beaches are huge expanses of white sand not at all crowded and just lovely. There are a few homeless people kicking about around the hotel, but they do not bother you at all. All in all good time and great hotel with loads of character. Thank you Amy on reception for the big smile after a long trip from the Uk!

We stayed one night at this hotel, and thought that it was wonderful. Our room was much bigger than we had anticipated. The sitting area had a couch, chaise, small table and chairs, and dresser with a tv on top. The bedroom was attached to this area by french doors. Our bedroom was equipped with a king bed, 2 night tables, and a TV armoire. The furnishings in this hotel suite were beautiful, and the rooms were freshly painted...very soothing decor.

The hotel lobby area was very clean, as was the hotel veranda. The view from the veranda is just amazing. The staff was very friendly, willing to do anything to make our stay a pleasurable one.

Overall we loved the Georgian and if we need to spend time again in Santa Monica, we'll probably return. Just a couple of small things . . . we asked for some ice to be sent up to our suite . . . waited about 15-20 minutes . . . no ice, and by then we need to leave and told the front desk to cancel the ice . . . they appologised and when we got back to our room and agin requested some ice, it came promptly. Also, when we came down to breakfast about 8:30 this past Sunday morning, clearly your staff was overloaded. If was a 30 minute wait after we finally were able to order until the food arrived (very good by the way). We requested water to two different people and it never arrived . . . and after waiting at least 10 minutes after we were finished I finally got up from the table and went to the register to pay our check. But all of the staff was friendly and, on balance, we enjoyed our stay.
