“Wonderful place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2011

This was a wonderful, relaxing place to stay. We entered the lobby area which was immediately calm and peaceful, the decor had a pleasant medieval feel. Our apartment, was large with plenty of room for 2 people to move around without bumping into each other as you would in a regular hotel room. The furnishing was was homey and comfortable; it was a wonderful place to come back to after a long day of walking and exploration. The room had everything that we needed, extra bed linens (in case of visitors), a full kitchen and 2 large walk in closets. The location was ideal for us - it was a few blocks away from the busy 3rd St Promenade, so the area was quiet and peaceful while only being a 5 min walk away from the action. The hostess was very attentive and affable, she immediately arranged car service for our departure when we checked in! We loved Santa Monica and Embassy H.A.s really made our visit special. Overall, it was a very hospitable and unique place to stay, and we highly recommend them over the other overpriced run of the mill hotels.

We loved the 1920's California architecture, the clean, airy, spacious room with kitchen, and the location (two blocks from the Third Street Promenade). We were not so happy about the lack of parking; the street permit is simply a hunting licence and on one evening it took us more than twenty minutes to find a space, five or six blocks away. It is surely worse on street cleaning day, when half the spaces are unavailable (fortunately we weren't there then). The lobby is grand but not very welcoming, and the front desk staff often failed even to make eye contact during our stay. Finally, we found the swings of water temperature in the shower to be disconcerting (if not dangerous) and the tub lacked a grab bar.

We arrived at the hotel and were immediately struck on the beauty and character of this Lobby. Check in was easy and we were given a Parking permit which gives free parking in the street and surrounding blocks. The apartment itself was very large and spacious , it had a lovely kitchen with all the equipment you could wish for. The furniture in the apartment sympathetic to the building very art deco . The apartment had a large sitting room with two large sofas ( one of which was a sofa bed). There was also a large dining table with six chairs. There was a little dressing table area and a master bedroom with two huge walk in closets . The apartment was very clean and tidy, and the maids really did an excellent job. There were two tv's one in the bedroom and a large plasma tv in the living room. The apartments are ideally places only 3 blocks from the sea and about two blocks from the main shopping are all within walking distance. There is a Whole food store nearby for food shopping which although a bit expensive because all the produce is organic is very good.
The apartments have laundry facilities too. It is an excellent base to explore all the area and is only about 15 minutes away from downtown LA and holywood.

We stayed at the Embassy Apartments for 2 weeks as a base for visiting husband's family. We had a very large studio apartment on the first floor (second floor to Americans) overlooking the garden. The studio was very spacious with a nice little dressing table area off the main room. The kitchen was well equipped and we made good use of it, eating breakfast in every morning and also the occasional dinner. The furniture was old and comfortable and in keeping with the atmosphere of the place. The bed was king size and very comfortable. Lots of cupboard space. The bathroom was adequate with a good shower.

Maid service every day was good and we always came back to a well cleaned apartment.

Josh, the manager, was very friendly and helpful and we couldn't have wished for a nicer stay and will definitely come back again next time we are in Santa Monica.

As mentioned on many other posts, parking was on the street by permit, or one could park in a carpark a short walk from the hotel for $10/night, although we never had to make use of that. There were a couple of times when we got back late in the evening and had to park a couple of blocks away, but generally managed to find a parking place within easy walk of the Embassy.

I stayed here with my wife and two young kids in a one bedroom apartment. It was spacious and nicely decorated. The staff was helpfull and friendly. 3rd street promenade and the beach were close by. I think we couldn't have found a better place.

A very old property...but in a good way. It has a lot of character and quiet in location yet only 5 mins walk to beach, 3rd st. promenade shopping / restaurants. And not far to the pier.
They do not have a car park but we did not have a problem getting a park on the street which is free.
Lovely lady that owns it (??) from Europe.
